I love a woman who knows how to use her words. And if she knows how to use her commas and apostrophes, that's a real bonus, too. What can I say? I'm a sucker for good grammar. I've never understood the seeming masses of men who find intelligent, educated, funny women intimidating. Smart is totally sexy. Smart means that she can contribute to the conversation. Smart means that she has things to teach me. Smart means she can articulate her likes, dislikes, and fears in ways that give me space to riff and explore.

Smart means that I can mess with her head better during play. It means that she is capable of following the hundreds of different intimidating possibilities that arise in a great scene. Mindfucks are so much more fun with smart girls, because I can intimate something so subtly -- so subtly! -- and watch her eyes go wide as she slowly realizes what I actually intend to *do* with that toy.

Smart girls bring out the best in me.

I guess it’s back to the dating site grind. I know that the dynamics of these websites are such that the men have to write twenty emails to get even two girls to read the things. I think that most men “cheat” with form letters out of a sense of despair. Why go to the trouble to write something personalized when you know that, nine out of ten times, no one will even bother to read the fruits of your labor? All the same, I can’t bring myself to write up a form letter. I think it’s for a few reasons. First, I love to read a girl's profile and really consider whether I’d relate to her. I won’t email a girl whose profile (read: prose) doesn’t appeal to me. Second, I love writing far too much to resort to some sort of “blanket” email. What a pleasure to allow myself the time to write and edit my thinking into something succinct, lucid, and poignant! Third, the sort of girl that I hope to attract would ignore a form letter. Why should she bother to respond to me when I can’t even show that I’ve read her profile?
