We have all been on the elusive journey of what to do with our lives. Mine has taken me from my roots in wholesome Wisconsin to the big city atmosphere of Chicago. My life journey has taken a few left turns along the way.
In 1998 I was enrolled at a WI community college with an undecided major. (At least I do not remember having one) I was much younger and had little interest in the education I was receiving. I had a steady job, a car, and a girl I was a lot more interested in. Education was, truthfully, the furthest thing from my mind.
Once I had miserably failed my math final and my first semester at community college was over, I picked up and moved to Chicago to be with this girl and pursue what I thought was a retail career.
I quickly learned: working long hours for little money in a semi-safe area was not a future for me. While working in the retail profession my younger brother and I had been planning to begin a music promotion business. He moved to Chicago as soon as he graduated high school.
My brother and I got off to a rocky start in the music business. The first two years included long hours in the cold flyering cars, and many meals of raman noodles. Our big break came when we were able to broker a groundbreaking deal for the electronic music community of Chicago. We connected one of the largest electronic music promotion companies in the world to the most cutting edge venue in Chicago. On top of that, our company was hired to run the venture.
For two years I don’t know if it was possible to have more fun. I met many of my idols, and even had to provide hospitality for them. In that two years I stayed at home a grand total of one Friday and one Saturday. After a while the business became a grind. The seedy nature of the business had reared it’s ugly head and for the first time in my life I was ready for a serious change.
I have returned home with a serious goal of making it in the media/journalism world and I am beginning again from the place where I first gave that education up.

say hi if you're so inclined....
