| The Society of Janus is a not-for-profit, all volunteer, San Francisco-based education and support organization devoted to the art of hot, safe, consensual and non-exploitative BDSM. We have been a part of the community since 1974 and pride ourselves on helping to provide support, education, outreach, and opportunities to socialize to the Bay Area Kink Community.
Janus provides an opportunity to meet others with similar interests in a safe, relaxed atmosphere. Janus is an organization open to persons of all genders, sexual orientations, roles, and experience levels. Janus also provides a chance to get involved with the greater SF Bay Area BDSM community.
Unless noted as a member-exclusive function, SoJ classes and events are open to all people who have a genuine interest in BDSM/leather/fetish/kink. SoJ members do get substantial discounts on our programs in addition to other benefits.

Monthly Events
**The SoJ Munch at the Thirsty Bear**
661 Howard Street in San Francisco
2nd Saturday of Every Month from Noon until 2(ish)
This is a great place to meetup with your old friends or make some new ones, whether you are new to the community or a veteran. It's a very friendly and welcoming environment. You do not need to be a member of SoJ to attend; SoJ is always open to everyone who is interested. There is a $5.00 per person fee, which covers the soft drinks, coffee, and the private room. We are in the private room upstairs (you can ask the greeter at the restaurant as well if you are lost).
**Newbie Only Coffee Social at Wicked Grounds**
289 8th Street in San Francisco, near Folsom St
2nd Monday of the Every Month from 7:00 to 8:30
This get together is just for those who are new(ish) to the the scene. We will be answering questions and sharing our experience of being in the scene. Meet fellow newbies in a respectful and low-pressure setting where there are no stupid questions.
**Orientation**
Day & Location varies to ensure people are able to attend, 7:00 to 9:00
An Orientation meeting is a fun, low-key, non-threatening forum where prospective members to the Society of Janus are presented with the rules and guidelines of the organization, and introduced to current members and to each other. Current members are always welcome and encouraged to attend to share your experiences.
**Relationships Discussion Group**

3rd Tuesday of Every Month
It?s a rare relationship where your kinky interests match up perfectly with your partner?s interests. Maybe you are in a new relationship and one of you is really interested in BDSM and the other one is reluctant to play. Or perhaps you are in a long term relationship and thinking about how to keep it hot, what to do when the kids get older, or could it work to be polyamourous. Join Beatrice and David, who have over the years, successfully worked through plenty of real world issues in their kinky relationship, as they lead the group in a discussion of what works and how to make it over the hurdles you're likely to encounter.
Classes & Social Events
Society of Janus puts on classes, workshops and social events each month. We typically hold classes on the second Wednesday, 3rd Thursday, and/or the 4th Sunday of each month. Occasionally programs may fall on different days as required. Classes are typically $10 for members, $20 for non-members. Look for **SoJ Presents** for fun, exciting and informative classes.
Our events are open to everyone. But members do enjoy some extra benefits like discounts on classes and at various retailers. More detailed information about the organization and joining can be found at www.soj.org

If you have ideas for classes, events, volunteer opportunities, or are interested in helping out with our programs or becoming a Janus officer, please let us know. We are a community based organization, so the more of the community that is involved, the stronger we are and the more we can accomplish.
Membership
To become an SoJ member, you must attend an orientation (which will be posted as an event here or see www.soj.org for times and dates). Membership is currently $40 per person, $50 per couple, and $60 per triad. Members get discounts on our classes, discounts at various retailers, reciprocal membership in other organizations (see below) and our fun and informative newsletter.
