Adventures in plugging holes:

With the recent onset of winters coldest temps reaching below -4 c* we have found ourselves confronted by the bother & costly expense of cold air infiltration from several weak points in the house.

We have finally dispelled the previously problematic singing pipes by bleeding the air from the Radiator lines. A new addition to this old semi house originally built in the 40’s.

Now after emptying some 5 tubes of sealant silicon re-sealing the some 8+ windows & sliding rear garden door & the addition of a Kitchen door (Still needs hinging & handle but in place none the less) We’ve come to find there are 2 large cracks on the exterior of the house front & back. Clearly this is where the cold air is coming from. Plan is for the mo to use exterior sealant & patch them over till the spring/ summer breaks.

We would like to find a willing volunteer in the Masonry/ Concrete field to seal & smooth over these 2 spots permanently & possibly a carpenter/ structural inspector to get up in the attic space 1^stly making certain the crack has not compromised the roof of the house & if so making needed reinforcements to prevent any future spreading or stretching.

The Materials for these endeavors as well as your skills will as always be at your expense in return for ours. Make no mistake about this what so ever. In recent weeks we have been literally inundated with responses to our profile. Some seem to have read the profile while others clearly have not.
