Profiles have always been a means of weeding through the treacherous terrain of meeting new people and exploring potential new relationships. They have also been the gateway to judgements and assumptions. It makes one uneasy about revealing themselves - to know that they will be judged by simple words on a screen. It is far too easy to take the written word out of context, to lose its meaning in what we think we know about a person. The written word lacks the interpretative value granted by seeing expression, hearing vocal inflection, and interpreting body language in conjunction with those words. For these reasons I beg you to keep an open mind, to let my actions and any active conversations speak louder than mere words written in a profile. With this in mind - a little about me. I moved to California just shy of a year ago and have yet to find my footing. My past is clouded with dark memories and sparked with the occasional joyful celebration. I have loved and lost, but never felt I truly belonged - not even in my own skin. Still I continue to search, for the future, for happiness, for hope. I hold values of love and honesty very dear to my heart, I believe in the potential for anyone to follow their dreams and succeed in grand ways, but I am a traditionalist at heart. I believe we each have roles to play in a grand play that is life. We are actors in a story written by those around us, but also writers able to dictate where we want our stories to go. We aren't here alone, even when love escapes our grasp. Our stories are ours to write, but also to be written by every person we meet. Our paths are influenced by our choices and by those we surround ourselves with. With that said, a blank page lies before me, a story waiting to be written. Will you be an author?
