I don't like labelling myself, but if you pressed me I might admit to the following.
I'm a polyamorous sapiosexual exhibitionist with dominant tendencies. It's been 3 weeks since my last confession. Kidding. I've never been to confession. I vividly remember telling the Sunday school teacher, "I don't believe in god because I want to be a scientist." I think I was probably 6 or 7 years old. I'm not a scientist by the way. The desire to be a scientist gave way to the (fundamentally wrongheaded) desire to be a computer programmer, then an actor, then a director and a playwright. I've since added academic to that list. I'm working on a PhD in anthropology. I nearly chose kink communities as my topic. But I didn't.
I'm very interested in subcultures and marginal identities. But, probably in consequence, I'm a bit wary of identity labels, particularly as they apply to me. I tend to see labels as fixing identity - something which is by its nature quite a fluid and contingent thing. Fluidity is way sexier than fixity. Which brings me to poly. I'm in poly relationships with wonderful women. They enrich my life immeasurably. If I message you (or you message me and I reply), its because I believe knowing you might be equally enriching.
