Fair warning: I am a nerd, and interested in sci-fi/fantasy/horror, books, movies, comics, etc. The Thing (the John Carpenter version) is one of my favorite movies and I would happily watch it pretty much every night. The Wheel of Time, Song of Ice and Fire, Dune, and a host of other series and independent books have been consumed here regularly and repeatedly. I also cook all the time, and have some professional experience. Unfortunately, this means my fridge and freezer is often overflowing. Fortunately, for some, this means that people are almost always welcome to come pilfer. I'm currently working in research in economics (after getting a Masters in Divinity, no less...which, you may have been able to guess, was less than totally worthwhile). I drive myself crazy if I just sit around the house all day after work, so, I need to do something to keep myself occupied. That can be anything from having an in-depth discussion to going for a run or just going out somewhere. Cooking helps, but it often leads me to make far too much food (see above), or purposefully make very complicated dishes. Basically, I need to stay busy, or I start going a little crazy. I play guitar (more often than not acoustic these days, due to a downstairs neighbor), though I'm a metal-head at heart. While I'm something of a metal purist at heart (if that even means anything these days), bands like Alestorm and "pirate-metal" (along with other very specific sub-genres) in general always gives me a chuckle. Tool and Type O Negative are among my favorites, and it deeply depressed me when Peter Steele died. Depeche Mode is special to me. Precious, even. I've spoken to Martin Gore on the phone, once, and it was one of the happiest moments of my life. Grunge can also never go out of style. As far as the lifestyle, well...I'm always looking to learn something new and explore. I have my preferences, but for the right person, I'd certainly be willing to go down other, previous unexplored paths. I'm also looking to just make some friends in the BDSM community. And when I say "just make some friends," I mean it. Some of the people I have met, with whom I have no other relationship beyond friendship (you know who(m) you are), are honestly some of the most meaningful interactions I've had. So, friends are good.

Talking to a sociologist who specializes in sex studies. It's been a very interesting experience trying to describe the BDSM lifestyle, especially from a merely personal experience.
