Who the hell is the slave here?  The best that I can figure is that the insecurity that bound them to seeking slavery in the first place is making them afraid of what might happen.Typically, a master WILL take care of you.  You're worth far more healthy and strong than imobile or sick.  It is in the master's best interest to ensure that you don't fall such a malady.  Let's not forget that masters have to give up a lot to have you as well.  Its a lot of time to train you, keep you occupied, and cared for.  Have you ever owned a pet?
