Im looking for friends as well as play partners --- People to hang out with at various events (or elsewhere) andor people to do various types of play with. (And as a switch, Im interested in either (or both) topping or bottoming, for all of my interests.) As far as types of play, my top interests are TENS unit based electrical play and strict bondagemummification (the more immobilized the better), sensory deprivation tickling sensation play, toysmachines (forced orgasms and such), some impact, and some types of CBT when bottoming. I would also be interested in a regular rope partner.

I do most of my kink-related social networking on Fetlife (Im Fnordstrum there as well), for anyone interested.

GKE was sweet, as it tends to be. Fun times.

5/1/2017 1:33:35 PM
Mummification and TENS units go together *awesomely,* and yet, somehow it's rare for me to have an opportunity to do a scene involving both things. Seems like shenanigans are afoot.

4/25/2017 7:53:13 PM
I'm up to 5 TENS units now.. Which means I could fairly easily do a *very* mad-scientist-esque scene at some point. Fun times. =)

With the expected snow coming, I feel that there could stand to be more combining of snow with kink

Vacation next week, with GKE on the weekend. Should be awesome.

I've recently become mobile / able to travel, which is on one hand some shenanigans, and on the other hand useful / cool to be able to go wherever without worrying about transportation or anything. Fun times.

So: Glow in the dark rope, is pretty sweet.

Well I finished moving... Moving itself, is really not very fun, however I like the place I moved to, so it works out. =).. I just have so much extra space now, it's crazy... The only really issue is the lack of a door or place for a door to go, for my room, but I'm working on a noise-blocking curtain to use in lieu of a door; I have part of it done, and without having all the gaps around the top and sides covered, or being accordioned, it works as well as some doors would already. I got some one-pound-per-square-foot vinyl and sandwiched it between two thick curtains, so it's pretty heavy, but yeah, it

should work decently when I'm done.

So I got the previously mentioned phone (Epic 4G)... It's pretty sweet. Of course, the stock phone has really horrible battery life, but, I of course rooted it and have been using SyndicateROM Frozen on it, and with that it gets pretty good battery life, and I can overclock it, so yeah.. I've been playing Spectral Souls on it, which is the first Tactical RPG I've played, but regardless I'm liking the game.

This past Saturday I was finally able to go to a munch around here (Previously I'd only been to two munches, the last two years at/before Otakon), which was fun.. got to meet some people around here, etc... Definitely glad I was able to go for once. =)

Oh, and another awesome thing... I was able to get all my Hospital bills forgiven, which is a huge amount of stress that I don't have now AND kind of like winning almost $100,000, which is like, wh00t, even if I didn't actually get any money, heh. But yeah, sweetness is what that is called.

So basically, I'd say there's a positive trend on all fronts. =)

Well we're finally moving out of this apartment... We were throwing the idea around like last summer, between getting a better place than here since we would be able to afford it and/or getting a place with another of our friends and his girlfriend... But said other friend + his girlfriend needed a place ASAP so, well, we found one, and will be moved by the end of the month.

The place we're moving to seems pretty sweet, it's a whole half of a house, four floors total, three rooms, two full bathrooms, a huge laundry room, and it's only like an eighth of a mile from where I am now, about the same distance from work as I am now, so, yeah... Plus it should be cheaper for us since we're splitting things between four people, etc. Once moving is finished and everything's set up/arranged/etc., it'll be great.

Also, I'm finally getting a cell phone... Specifically a Samsung Epic 4G (Have to have the slide out keyboard... touch screens are cool but I need my buttons). I've never been a huge fan of phones (I have (have had) lots of social anxiety when it comes to phones, and people I don't know, or calling people, or whatever)... But this way we won't need a landline at all, and I get the bonus of being able to do internet-type-stuff from anywhere, which I'll be doing much, much more than actually using it as a phone.

So, for the moment, I guess things are going pretty decently.

So I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to go to the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear, since I wasn't sure how I'd be able to get down there/etc... But my friend's mom decided that she was going to stay home and watch it on TV instead of going, and she already had the hotel booked to go down (she had been intending to go down with my friend)... So my roommate and I went down with my friend, which worked out great.

We went down on Friday; I worked a half day of work as that day it was both useful for me to be there and useful for me to get four hours of pay instead of no hours of pay, then we drove down.. Stayed in Silver Springs, at a hotel pretty close to the metro station. After we got checked in to the hotel, which took way longer than it normally would because my friend's mom had to have whoever she booked the room with fax over a thing saying that the name was changing on the reservation, since she wasn't there but her son was... Once that was finally done, we took the Metro into the city... Of course, apparantly someone jumped onto the tracks or otherwise was on the tracks when a train came by, so we had to get off the metro about halfway to where we had intended on going.. Which was alright, then we just walked around a bit, eventually got food at Quiznos, and then we headed over to some bar to meet my friend's cousin who lives down there. (I don't drink myself, but, I'm not going to not go into a bar with them to hang out because of that, heh).. After a bit in the one bar we went over to a different bar and hung out there for a while, and eventually went back to the hotel at like 2 or so in the morning.

Saturday morning, my friends ended up getting up an hour or hour and a half earlier than they had intended to, which ended up being pretty useful.. We tried Subway's new breakfast stuff -- which isn't bad at all -- And headed over to the Metro. We got in line to buy metro passes at like, slightly after 9... And didn't end up getting on the platform until maybe like 10. (And the line got at least twice as long as it was when we got in line, by the time we got to the front of it)... Once we got on the platform, it took at least 20 minutes for a train to show up.. We were lucky enough to be right near the edge of the platform so we got on that one, but, it was extremely jammed inside, heh. (Oh and since his cousin had mentioned going to a couple costume parties after the Rally, I was wearing my cape the whole time, on the metro, while at the Rally, etc... So woo for that, anyway)

So then by the time we get to the rally it's around 11, about an hour later than we kind of were hoping to be in the general vicinity.. And of course we ended up near the back, well, we were far enough back that it was pretty hard to see the last pair of screens, but there ended up being a lot of people behind us as well... But even though we couldn't see very well, we could hear fine (except when the Mythbusters were on stage; they were pretty quiet for whatever reason and thus hard to hear).

The Rally itself, well, it was pretty awesome, even if I couldn't see the screens very well... The only thing I'd do differently would be to change the ratio of music to non-music stuff, pretty much, a little too much of the Rally was random music as far as I'm concerned -- But perhaps if I was particularly interested in any of it I wouldn't have minded as much... In any case, having a slightly too high ratio of music aside, it was fun. The Mythbusters being there, I was totally not expecting, and was also pretty nifty... The crowd wave, when they showed it on the screen, it was like, holy crap that is a bloody lot of people, followed by, holy crap how did that crowd wave not reach us yet, that really is a bloody lot of people.... And, well, pretty much if you haven't seen the rally just go watch it (comedycentral.com has the videos of it), it's worth watching... Also, I wouldn't be surprised if that's the largest crowd of people I'll ever be in (Estimated around 215,000 people there)... There were people in every direction as far as you could see, it was pretty crazy. (And afterwards we walked up to the stage to see how far away it actually was, and I also saw probably the most port-a-potties I'll ever see for one event, there were a ridiculous number of those too)... If I could go back and do things differently, I'd pretty much, try to leave a couple hours earlier if at all possible, to get a better spot; It was definitely worth being there, in any case.

So after the rally we just kind of walked around a little bit.. I wanted to go see some of the stuff around there just because, you know, we were there so why not (Like the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, etc), but my friend's feet were hurting so we didn't get to. (Really though, I should have pressed it because I doubt I'm ever going to be walking around DC wearing my FNORD shirt and my cape again, could have gotten some great pictures)... After going and seeing the stage, and sitting around for a bit, we went and walked through the city looking for an acceptable place to eat, eventually eating at a Subway, and after that we went to a random bar again and met up with my friend's other cousin that lives down there (He has two, Friday one of them was sick, Saturday the other one was sick, so, yeah), then did random bar-hopping and fnordnot, and then went to a random Halloween party/house party that a friend of my friend's cousin was invited to, and we just hung out there for the rest of the night... It was pretty decent, talked to some random people, can now say that I've partied with some people from the Department of Defense (since there were a handful of people there that work in the DoD), and, fnordnot.

My roommate was saying that Washington, DC was like a horrible city or something, but really, it seems like a decent place... We have tentative plans to go hang out in DC after Otakon next year, since my friend has cousins there who we could just stay with or whatever, so that might be interesting if we end up doing that.

-----

So my Mom and Stepdad and Half-Sister moved back out here from South Dakota... They left on the first of November, got here on Friday, and now they're here... They don't have a house here yet, but, they're in town anyway, just need to find a house and then, yeah...

Saturday I went up to my Aunt's house for a slightly early birthday-celebration-ness-type-thing.. nothing exciting, I didn't really get anything (Well, I got a bottle of some random hot sauce, which is nifty, but not exciting in any way), but it was nice to see my Mom and half sister, anyway.

Yesterday was my Actual birthday.. I had work which is annoying but, I decided to work the Monday and take Tuesday and Wednesday off instead of taking Monday and Tuesday off since it was Inventory at work, and then later on I went out to dinner with my other Aunt... I got a new backpack which is slightly completely random but is actually useful since neither of my current backpacks are ideal to use for grocery shopping and biking home with the stuff; this one will work much better for that purpose. (But still, nothing exciting)... The gloves I ordered a week or two ago got here yesterday too, which was cool.. kind of like getting a birthday present but not really... They seem like really good gloves, which is nice -- And they have the craziest thing I've ever seen on a pair of gloves: One glove has a small wiper blade on the back of the thumb, to wipe off goggles or glasses or whatever when you get snow/etc on them, and the other has an extra soft patch on the back of the thumb to wipe off your nose or whatever.... But yeah, they should be sweet especially since I've heard this winter is supposed to be especially cold; my current gloves really are not winter gloves and don't cut it, especially for biking in the winter.

And now... I think I'll go finish Death Spank (the first one) finally.

10/3/2010 4:47:35 PM

So, yesterday.. I was heading for work, after getting maybe five hours of sleep, after previously being awake for about 45 hours straight (this includes two regular 8 hour work days, of course)... Anyway, I was riding my bike, basically just started (barely a minute away from my apartment).. I was going down hill, and at the bottom of the hill there was this van (going the same direction as me), except it was kind of pulling over to the other side of the road, looked like it was going to pull up on the side of someone's lawn there or whatever... And well, so I was going decently fast down the hill as I always do on a hill unless I have something requiring me to slow down, and then the van turns (from the other side of the road) right into where I was, I manged to kind of steer out of the way slightly, but I still got hit. (They were pulling into a flat grassy area right next to where a carport was that I wouldn't have even expected anyone to be turning into)...

So I get knocked off the bike, land in the grass... The only thing that really happened to me was a scratch on my face (not a huge one) and my knee got scraped (although I didn't realize this until a few hours later as it didn't hurt)... my other leg was a little sore, but in general I pretty much came out alright. The people that hit me were, thankfully, nice people and not doucherskaty about it, basically the guy just didn't see me or whatever, but their friend who's house we were right in front of (where they were going) was a nurse, so she looked at me, cleaned up the scratch on my face... I didn't realize my knee was scraped at the time so she didn't look at that (It didn't hurt, and you can't see that it's scraped with pants on.. heh), but, fnord. So they they took me over to the bike shop, as my bike was a little bent out of shape, and gave me a ride to work. (The front wheel was pretty bent, and one of the crank arms or whatever was a little bent, but as far as I know otherwise it was fine)...

Of course the night before me and a couple friends had done a little wrestling just for the fnord of it (And I won said wrestling, so woo for that), which there really isn't room for in my apartment, but, in any case, I had gotten my head slammed on the floor once, and my arm was super sore after we had finished and I was laying down, and my foot had gotten scraped on the side... So that plus getting knocked off my bike, it's just like, bleh, kind of sore all over.

But yeah, I got a couple rides to/from work, and my bike got fixed, and I'm alright.. Just missed out on a half hour of work yesterday which I was thinking about doing anyway, so... Could have been a much worse accident.

So lately I've been doing some more random hanging out with a few of my friends, random as in going with them to bars and hang around while they're drinking, which I hadn't previously ever done. (I don't drink myself, and don't plan on it for a variety of reasons).. And one of my friend's friends (who I just recently met) is into various types of kinky stuff, which is nice because none of my other real life friends are so I never get any chances to talk about that sort of thing.... Anyway it's resulted in some days of just skipping sleep entirely (That's what happens when you always have work at 6 or 7 in the morning.. Fnord) -- Which is the first time in a while that I've done that, other than the last few midnight prerelease tournaments for the last few Magic: The Gathering sets, and even then I slept a little bit beforehand... But since I've been full time at work, with the always having to get up in the morning for work, I haven't been doing stuff late much at all.. which is kind of annoying since I like doing stuff late... So, it's been fun the last few weeks, anyway.

The other day the back of my chair broke.. I was just leaning back, and it kind of snapped right off... So now I need to get a new chair, which I've needed to do anyway as this one has been kind of falling apart (the armrests are kind of very slowly disintegrating, and the mesh seat has a few spots with holes), but until I get a chance to go get one, I just duct taped the back of the chair back on, which actually works pretty great with the exception that now the back is stuck in the all-the-way-up position.. Basically it was just like, fnord.

Also since the last time I made a journal entry.....

I went to see Scott Pilgrim in Theaters back in August (Which was a pretty awesome movie) -- First time I'd been to a theater for anything in, probably at least three or four years; And the first time I was in that specific theater for 6 or 7 years... They changed some stuff in it, I was like, oh em gees. (Although, unfortunately, we didn't have time to try out the DDR machine they have now)

The other day I went hiking (also the first time in many years that I've done that, don't have any idea when the last time was), went to the top of Bear Mountain with my Aunt and Uncle and their dog. (Highest Peak in Connecticut, woo).. It was pretty fun; my Aunt and Uncle were a lot slower than me, so I had to either go slow or just keep waiting for them to catch up, but it was pretty fun.. A very nice day, and every once in a while I'd throw random sticks for their dog to get... So, woo.

And.. Fnord.

Now I have a vacation next week, with no plans to do anything, but, it'll be nice to not have work and to be able to catch up on some stuff, do some gaming, or whatever.

8/1/2010 8:05:01 PM

I just got back from this year's Otakon, so woo for that... Didn't end up doing that much stuff at this year's con, but, it was still (of course) fun.

There were five of us splitting a room this year, which was both cool for hanging out purposes and for splitting cost purposes.. Two of them did cosplay, one as Sabin from FFVI, my other friend did Zapp Brannigan from Futurama, which was a pretty sweet costume (Especially considering it was his first time making a costume like that).. So of course when we were walking around together it was a whole lot of being stopped to get pictures, which is cool... On Friday I was wearing my shirt.woot shirt with Admiral Ackbar and his hands in a chinese finger trap ("It's a trap" etc.), got a lot of people noticing that, which was also cool.

Thursday I went to the pre-otakon munch, which was cool... It took more than twice as long to get there as I expected (Although I wasn't going fast as I had not walked in that part of the town before so I was taking my time/looking at where things were / where I was supposed to end up on the map / etc), it was about a mile-ish or so away from the Hotel... Not nearly as many people showed up for it as said they were or might be going, but, there were enough people that it was sill nifty.

Friday, we didn't do that much, mostly wandered around a little, hit the Dealer's room, ate, etc.. I got a few hours of playing some DDR in, which was sweet especially since I didn't totally suck at it as is usually the case when it comes to playing at Otakon or whatever (Not used to the pad being completely flat [mine has raised corners, easier to not get off center on), can't necessarily hear the music as well as you would want to to play good, not being good at playing in whatever I'm wearing on my feet (usually I play barefoot -- really that's what I should have done at the con, but, I did not).. Well anyway I played a bit and actually did decently so I was like, sweet... Then from that I went over to the rave until it ended, so woo for that.

Saturday, well.. the first thing I do, after all that walking, DDR, and jumping around at the rave the night before... Is go over and play DDR for a few more hours... It was, again, pretty sweet. After that, I mostly wandered around a bit, then grabbed some food, went to the hotel, took a quick shower since playing DDR tends to make one a bit sweaty... Then I go to maybe play a round or two of DDR and wander around (And get the 18+ wristband and a couple glow sticks) until a panel I wanted to hit a few hours later, and, well.. apparantly some doucherskate pulled the fire alarm while I was in my hotel room, the whole con was evacuated.. I walked around quick just to see everyone standing around outside the building, then went back to the hotel room. Seriously a sucky thing to have happen, but, at least it didn't mess up anything I had wanted to do, so for me at least, not that big of a deal. (But still what the fnord).

So anyway that lasts maybe at most two hours total, I go back over, do one song of DDR quick and then head up to the panel I wanted to it.. which got pushed back a half hour because of the alarm earlier and slight messing with some schedules because of it, actually another panel was there when I got there to get in line so I just went in to get a seat, sat through that, then the one I wanted to go to.. I felt a little low-sugar-ish but I just didn't feel like missing out on my spot or the panel so I waited to eat until after, which was probably a bad idea... But anyway, after sitting for like two hours, I got up, and then it was like, BAM, my legs were ridiculously sore, to move them at all was just causing pain... Walking a little bit loosened them up, but, still, not fun. (My left leg still is sore now, heh). Well I went, ate some stuff, etc... Noticed that my sandals were rubbing against my feet right around the knuckle part of the big toes, so there are these raw, slightly oozing, painful for anything to touch, spots on each of my feet.. which makes walking or anything a little more annoying. Well, even with that, I still went over, did a little more DDR.. except this time I sucked horribly, so I was like, alright, my legs are officially dead, and it's not a good idea to play more anyway since my sandals are eating my feet... So I went over to the Rave (heh)... Did that, although not nearly as actively as I had been on Friday, since my feet/legs were being annoying, for like an hour or so.. Then went over to a panel (On J-Metal, woo) at midnight.. I had originally intended to go hit the last half hour of the rave after the panel, but, there was an utterly ridiculous line for the rave, for whatever reason (I guess they were limiting entrance to it to a certain rough number of people), so I just went back to the hotel.

Then today, of course, we mostly just wandered around, I watched The Cat Returns, which was pretty good, and then of course we came home.. yaay for ridiculous traffic on the Jersey Turnpike. =/

But yeah, I had fun (well of course).. I didn't spend that much there this year, I only bought four books (three volumes of DearS and one of Excel Saga) and one pack of M11 just to be random, and not even a lot of food as I brought bread and peanut butter and had a bunch of peanut butter sandwiches. (Mostly as breakfast)

And now I have the next two days off, so, wh00t for that.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

7/23/2010 2:24:22 PM
Otakon next weekend.. woo.

It seems a little strange...  I was just on vacation the middle of last month, and now I'm going on vacation again (Although only 8 days off for this one instead of 11).. It's kind of like, wh0a. But definitely nifty... That'll give me four days for, obviously, going to/being at Otakon, and then two days before and after to do random stuff I haven't really had a lot of extra time for due to working all the time...

But yeah, for whatever reason it's kind of like Otakon snuck up on me... It should be fun, of course (It always is)... This year I'm going down with three other people, and we're picking one more person up on the way there, and the five of us are splitting a room, so it should be super cheap, which is cool, and, having a group to hang out with is cool on its own.

I stopped playing Stepmania for like a month.. I played again the other day, and my foot finally stopped hurting from playing (Some part on the top of my foot where there's a bony spot), although I got a couple minor blisters on the bottom of them which is to be expected... So yeah, woo for feet working properly. Heh.

I haven't been playing as much Magic lately, but, I went to a prerelease tournament for M11 (Sealed deck), I came in fourth out of 49 people, so that was pretty sweet... I won ten packs, cracked a Baneslayer in one of them, which is awesome even if it's not worth $50 anymore.

In any case.. Fnord.

6/18/2010 11:43:19 AM

Totally home again, woo.

The rest of my vacation was alright.. Mostly hung around the house (after the Black Hills), the last day we did some Go-Karts and Mini-Golf, which was fun... The trip home was pretty standard, waiting around for planes, sitting around on planes.. Everything on time, just, boring.. Heh.

Of course, after we got back in town, my sister called to check in with my mom, let her know we landed alright etc etc... Only to find out from my Stepdad that she was in the hospital (Never made it home from dropping us off at the airport), and he was not very informative as to what happened or which hospital she was in or anything, so that was kind of like, what the fnord... We find out more later on, and it seems she's alright, they just kept her overnight because of a bad reaction to some stuff they tried and to monitor her just in case; all the tests they did came out alright, so, she should be fine (And no, there was no accident or anything).

But it's like, we just get home from a nice trip, it's like, woo, trip, woo, glad to be home, and then, oh, your mom is in the hospital; never came home from dropping you off at the airport -- Was seriously what the crap.

Anyway, back to work tomorrow, how exciting. Fnord.

Wh00t for being on Vacation, also, random fnordnot:

Right now, I'm in the middle of a nice 11 days off from work in a row... It's pretty sweet, since I haven't had more than one day off in a week since the week before Christmas. For my vacation, (actually, the whole reason I took the vacation), I'm visiting my Mom out in South Dakota, along with my sister and her boyfriend.

We went out to the Black Hills, on the other side of the state for a few days; Went to the badlands, which are pretty awesome, saw Rushmore and Crazy Horse, went to Custer Park, and saw Jewel Cave. It was pretty fun, I got a fnordton of pictures (Which are all on my facebook profile if anyone is interested).. So now we're hanging around in Sioux Falls just visiting, going back to Connecticut on Thursday.

-----

So, vacation aside...

I think working 47.5 hours a week is starting to get to me a little. (I'm actually in the building for 50 hours a week).. I don't mind doing it, but, it really kills my free time -- Even though I have a decent chunk of time every day, right when I get home I don't feel like doing much of anything for a few hours, and then by the time I start doing stuff, I get maybe a couple hours of gaming or whatever in and then I need to go to bed, and it's just like, fnord --- But, I'd much rather be in this situation than to be in a situation where I'm not getting enough money, so, I can't complain too much.

I got my new computer thrown together, Quad core 3.4 Ghz, fancy mcpants stuff -- Not super ultra triple-sli core-i7 type ridiculousness, but, pretty decent, and far, far better than my 'main' / old computer... Once I get back from vacation I'm going to finally get back to working on getting some certifications, using the quad-cored-ness to run a ton of virtual machines at once (with any reasonable amount of performance) to mess around with stuff, and yeah.

Of course that brings me to... ADHD. It hasn't been a problem for me (since I stopped taking Ritalin after I got out of school) -- But I also haven't been trying to read a bunch or really focus on anything, for the most part; Thus it wouldn't have been a problem... Now that I AM trying to read some stuff / focus on some stuff, It's kind of like, holy crap. Kind of annoying.. We'll see how things go, although I think at some point I'll need to see someone and get on some kind of medicaiton for it again.

---

I can't wait for Rock Band 3, which I think will require me to get a MIDI Keyboard, since I've kind of wanted one for a while but didn't have much justification for one, but since Rock Band 3 is going to support them, well, there's hardly any reason NOT to get one. Also, an actual MIDI adaptor instead of just cannibalizing the Guitar Hero drumkit, should work better, and finally let me to do drum fills with the sounds they're supposed to have, in the game... The 102 button Guitar Controller though... That's pretty nuts. Not to say that I don't want to get one, but, it's pretty nuts, heh.

Playing DDR/Stepmania has caused my right foot to hurt, right on the top of it... there's this one spot where the bone is kind of poking out a little making a bump on the foot, which is the area where it tends to hurt.. I'm hoping it'll stop hurting with just not playing for a while, and then be fine, but, we'll see.... In any case, I can consistently get a B on Max 300 (with a foot that's in pain), so that's pretty cool.

Stepmania, part forty-two and four fnordths.

Well I got back into playing Stepmania again... Not so much that I was ever not 'into' playing it, just for whatever combination of reasons I hadn't played it since somewhere around August-ish, possibly September... Anyway, I love the game (And in the event someone reading this is unaware of Stepmania and isn't curious enough to google it... it's basically the same thing as Dance Dance Revolution) -- But man, playing it has to be the best way to make my legs sore, and to get blisters on the bottom of my feet. (Of course, with the blisters at least, that's mostly due to playing barefoot, but honestly, it's easier [and thus more fun] to play barefoot.. Just need to avoid the corners and screws mostly)

Really what I need to do is not stop for a few months, ever... Although you'd think with biking to/from work every day, and doing Rock Band every day (some songs are crazy on the bass pedal; although that is generally just one leg/foot, but still), my legs wouldn't get quite so sore from a little Stepmania... But fnord.

Of course what I want, is for that new version of DDR to come out (whatever the heck it's being called), for the PS3.... Every time I look into it, its release has been pushed back.. So fnord.

Well, what I want more than that is for some people to hang out and play Stepmania/DDR with, but, you know... It's fun to play anyway. =)

OMG Journalness. 0_o

Last week I ran the sealed Magic tournament I had wanted to do, one pack of each current Type II set (Shards of Alara, Conflux, Alara Reborn, M10, Zendikar, and Worldwake)... Had 11 people for it (including myself), so I didn't have any packs left over like I had intended, but, that's alright.

The tournament itself was fun.. Nobody cracked anything particularly awesome, but there was an interesting mix of cards... I came in 6th myself (well tied for 5th, but we just rolled for it).. So woo for that.

I got my desk down from having like 30 piles of cards on it to having just one pile... Now I just have a huge pile of boxes (Double row "1600 count" card boxes) which I still need to figure out where I want to keep them... I finally got a binder, a 3" binder that's basically full, the thing weighs something like 8 pounds or so... Pretty crazy, really. (I'm also not sure where to keep the binder, as it is pretty huge, but that's easier to deal with than a ton of huge boxes)

I was planning on getting a bigger TV, mostly due to playing Dragon Age and all of the codex entries being annoying to read from the couch; However, I decided I first need to get with the times and make a new computer, with a fancy-pants quad core 64 bit processor (and etc), to replace (well not exactly replace) my current Athlon XP 2400 based system... And so that's next month's project.

Before I do that, I still need to straighten out my desk some more, and figure out exactly how I'm going to arrange the new computer (once it's built) and this one (since I intend to be using both of them constantly)... And then after I get it set up (and figure out where the cases are going to be), I think I'm going to drill a hole in the hutch so that I can mount my monitor arm to it in a much more stable manner than it's currently mounted.

So woo for all that.

So I've been full-time for five months now.. I don't dislike my job (Not to say that it's an ideal job, but, I don't mind it)... But being there 47.5 hours a week every single week is just kind of like, 0_o... I just don't have enough time to do much of the stuff I want to do / get done -- Part of that is because right when I get home I don't feel like doing anything (since it's right after work and I'm slightly bleh-ish), and it ends up leaving only a few hours for getting anything done... And then on my one day off a week, a lot of the time I use it for getting stuff done and it ends up being not as much of a day off as I'd like it to be.

So in essence.. Fnord.

With the backlog of games I've got piled up, of course the one I'm working on now is Grandia, which was released randomly on PSN like a month-ish ago, and I semi-randomly got it and decided to start playing it, not having played it before... It's definitely a nifty game, and you have to love the Look-at-this-state-of-the-art-for-15-years-ago 3D environments and 3D spinny-ness of it... Also it seems to be fairly long, which is always good. (Although it doesn't help me with having limited amounts of time, but, what can you do)

Fnord.

2/2/2010 5:35:10 PM

Hmm, almost three months since I last made a journal entry... Time just goes by way to fast these days. (Not having tons of free time does that, I guess.. heh)...

Anyway, random stuff:

I finally sorted a bunch of the piles of Magic cards laying around on my desk... I had like 30-ish piles at one point, and once I get done sorting (and putting away into the proper boxes) the few I'm in the middle of sorting, It'll be down to about 11 piles... Then I plan on getting some kind of binder, which will get rid of a couple more piles... So wh00t for that.

I got Dragon Age for Christmas, and beat it like a week or so ago... It's a pretty awesome game. I only beat it once (As a Human Warrior), and I do want to go back and beat it another five times (for the other five character stories/etc).. However I want to wait until either I just play some other stuff I have to play / do some other stuff that's time consuming that I should/want to do, or (and), I want to wait until I get a bigger TV, since reading all those several hundred codex entries from all the way on the couch just.. strains my eyes, and it's annoying. But yeah, great game, and I would recommend it to anyone unless they have absolutely no free time to spend on gaming. (Heh)

Also, as far as Magic goes, even though I still would pick sealed over drafting; I decided I do like drafting -- And I'm halfway decent at it, which is nifty.. Came in third (out of 18) at my last draft, and fourth (although only out of 8) at my previous draft.. So woo. I missed out on the Worldwake Prerelease though, because my friends weren't going to the midnight one, and then I had work for the other one, but, oh well.

And now, time for some Spiral Ham. (Although, I'm starting to get a bit hammed-out, been eating a lot of spiral ham lately)

Fnord.

11/9/2009 7:21:23 AM

So yesterday was my birthday.. Didn't really do anything that exciting; had work, then went out to eat with some of my family, and that was about it.. I have today off though, so that's good.

I got my PS3 back sooner than I expected --- Except, I didn't get it back, they sent me a different one.. Which sucks, because it means I can't get any of the data off of the old drive, so I had to wipe it and lost the entire last year's worth of saves, plus can't use the same band name in Rock Band or Rock Band 2. (But, going from "The Fnordinators" to "Fnordinators" isn't a huge deal).. Having to replay all the songs isn't a huge deal because I'm going to have to do that anyway as soon as they patch it with the sort by stars feature --- Which, by the way, what the crap: You patch the X-Box Rock Band 2 to add a couple features (like that one), say the PS3 one needs to be approved or whatever... a couple weeks after that my PS3 dies, a week or so after that it gets sent in finally, and then I get it back... And they STILL haven't released the patch for the PS3 version of Rock Band 2. It's like, seriously, guys, get your crap together.

So aside from losing a year's worth of saves (At least I didn't lose stuff older than that since I had a backup from when I got a bigger drive -- Unfortunately I didn't realize that they encrypted the drive and tied it to the specific PS3 the data was written with, or I might have done more frequent backups), which means I have to replay the first half of Overlord, which I had just started and was about halfway, possibly slightly more than halfway, done with, as well as losing all my data from Fallout 3 (most importantly) and some other games, and which really sucks... Well. I preordered Tekken 6 from Gamestop, because I wanted the preorder bonus Cardboard Tube Samurai DLC code (mostly) and they had the preorder bonus calendar, which was cool too, but mainly the Cardboard Tube Samurai was what I cared about, and was the only reason I got it from Gamestop. So it comes around to the Thursday or Friday before the release day of Tekken 6, and they email me saying they couldn't verify my credit card... Which is like, what the fnord are you doing guys, you verified it right when I did the preorder in the first place (first of all)... So I have them try a few variations on my address (which by the way hasn't changed, I've ordered with the same bank account and address, from gamestop before, and had stuff arrive just fine), and they say it isn't working, then I'm like, well I told you it says my name has the middle initial on it, and you didn't change it to have that, and it won't let me change it to have that, and then they did that and it went through --- By that time it was Tuesday afternoon or so, which was the release day... So then I get it, only a couple days later which was cool, but: They didn't bloody send me my preorder bonus crap, which was the only reason I got it from them in the first place. (Of course they disclaimer it that supplies are limited etc so there's nothing I can do about it with them).. So I had to ebay the DLC code anyway, which means I just never should have gotten it from them.

So yeah, seriously.

As far as Tekken 6 itself goes, well I just tried it Saturday (Didn't get a chance yesterday), since it took a couple days to redownload all of my PSN stuff (Since you can't queue up more than 30 or 40 things to download at a time, I had to go through the Downloads list, to where I left off, background download a few things, let it download while I was sleeping or at work, install all the crap [has to be installed before you can background download more for some stupid reason], queued up more stuff, etc... And the entire list was 521 downloads... Some of which were demos that I didn't need to get, but mostly it was Rock Band songs/song packs, heh... So it took a while, anyway... But yeah anyway I tried Tekken 6, which seems, well, a lot like Tekken 5: DR, which, well, you know, it's Tekken, heh. I saw a couple new things that were nifty, and the campaign/story mode thingy seems cool, but I need to learn Lars so I can really play it decently (at least for now, since he's who you start playing as)... The stick for it, though, is kind of weird... First of all, instead of R1 and R2 being on one side and L1 and L2 on the other, all four of them are on the right of the main buttons, which is definitely not what I'm used to, in any case... And secondly, there's no indicator light or on/off switch or anything for it, so you can't manually turn it off to save battery, you can't tell if it's on or not just by looking at it.. You can't tell what controller it is by looking at it but that doesn't matter too much.... But, it seems to work fine, so, that's good, heh.

So yeah... A quarter of a century now. It's like 0_o

Of Fnording, purple, Magic, and wh00tness.

So, man.. Haven't made an entry in two and a half months..

Well.. Mostly I've been playing a lot of Magic... actually went to a couple tournaments (Sealed Zendikar release tournament and a draft), first time I've ever done an actual tournament.. Came in right in the middle at both, although at the draft I won two packs which was cool... I've actually got a Type II deck now that I want to use in some constructed tournaments, not sure how well it will work but we'll see.

Aside from spending a lot of time and too much money on Magic.. I started playing Overlord: Raising Hell finally, which is fun -- Definitely much better than Pikmin... Of course I'm about, I don't know, possibly halfway-ish through it, and then my PS3 died while my roommate and his girlfriend were using it.. not sure exactly what happened but now it doesn't work and needs to get fixed... So I doubt that I'll have it back until after my birthday, which sucks... What also sucks is that apparantly the PS3 encrypts its hard drive so that only the PS3 that you were using can access the data that was on it, which means I can't get the data off of the drive -- So basically I just have to hope that when they fix it, they actually fix it and not send me a different one, so that I can slap the drive back in it and have all my saves and stuff (Otherwise that will really, really suck).

If I had been aware that I wouldn't be able to access the drive from anything else I probably would have backed up more often.. At least there's a backup from a year ago when I went from a 60 gig to a 250 gig drive, but, that doesn't help me with Fallout 3, Rock Band 2, a number of downloaded games, some PS2 games, and of course Overlord which I had just started... So anyway I just hope they do actually fix it, otherwise that will suck.

And of course, the last big thing worth mentioning, which is actually pretty awesome, is that I got promoted to full time at work instead of just part time.. Which means slightly higher pay, more hours consistently, and better benefits -- The awesome thing is that it seems I won't have to worry about getting medical assistance from the state or anyone for at least 11-15 years, which is, well, basically just great. (If it is, in fact, the case) -- So, yeah, pretty awesome.

(Much better entry on suddenly getting into magic, heh) :

So for whatever reason, maybe because some of my friends are playing (probably a lot to do with that actually), I decided I'd start playing Magic: The Gathering again...

I used to play, starting when I was in fifth grade, right around the end of when they were making revised, and then stopped around when tempest/stronghold was out, in 1998.. Which basically means I have a ton of old cards, which is pretty nifty, particularly having good cards worth a decent amount of money -- not that I intend to sell any, it's just pretty cool to be able to say you have them, or to be able to, you know, use them.

In any case, now I'm playing again, also I snagged a few new cards -- Really, I spent way too much on cards in the past week, but, hey. (By a few, I mean close to 3000, and by new, I mean for the most part newer than what I have)... I got a couple booster boxes, I went with sets about as old as I could get while still being cheap... And then I went and got another couple thousand cards on ebay just to have some cards from the last 10 years, heh.

Anyway, yeah, spending too much on cards, but I do like collecting them, and Magic is pretty fun, heh.

Yesterday was Magic night, and at the end we did a three headed giant match, that was pretty fun, first time I'd ever done one of those. (3 vs 3, but each team shares life and goes at the same time attacks/blocks together etc, but has different hands / decks)

Also I decided I'm going to build a chaos-based deck, as in, a deck based on chaotic things, like mana clash, and things that just cause you to reshuffle, other clashes and coin flip type cards, and I'll have to aquire a Chaos Orb, even though it's expensive... But it'll be interesting/amusing when I do.

Fnord.

Started getting into / playing Magic again (As in, Magic: The Gathering, the collectible card game)... It's been around 11 years since I was really into it / since I got any cards, and I've only played a couple times in that period as well...

So yeah, wh00t for Magic.

7/20/2009 9:49:36 AM

So yeah, I'm back from Otakon now... It was pretty great, as usual. I actually got a handful of pictures this year as well as a couple video clips (If you want to see them, I have them up at www.fnord.us/otakon2009/

)

This year I hit two concerts, and the rave for a lot of it on Friday, and almost all of it on Saturday, but only a couple other things besides the dealer's room, gaming room, artist's alley, and wandering around... But it was fun... Also there was that small munch on Thursday night, which was kind of cool.

I didn't get a lot of stuff this year, just a Mikururu figure, Gundam SEED Destiny, the Nadesico Manga... And cat ears (Heh, finally snagged some cat ears), but there were a couple series I would have gotten but I'm going to just get them online since it's way cheaper that way. It's like, what the crap Otakon, you're supposed to have awesome deals, not crappy ones. (They did have some good deals, some $5/$4 Manga and DVDs, scattered about, but, yeah)

Hmmm... I have to say, lines this year, seemed a bit worse than before... particularly the lines to get in / get your registration in the first place. In previous years, they let you pick up your registration on Thursday, starting at 4 in the afternoon.... This year they started at 5 (and went until 11 instead of 10) --- However, a lot of people still assumed it started around 4, and because of this, when we went to get in line at 5:30 ish, the line was out the front door, all the way around the building, and then back and forth a couple times in front of the building... Took like an hour ish to get inside to get in the line in there.... Then on Friday, there was a fairly big line to get in the door for people who already got their badge... I think they didn't actually open the doors until 9:15 ish instead of 8:30 like they were supposed to, which would explain that. On top of that, I think a few of the sliding doors were broken, and the fountainy area was under construction, so that wasn't cool.... But, they did have a few rooms over in the Hilton (connected to the convention center by a 'skywalk' thing), that was pretty cool.

Anyway, now can't wait for next year... I just need two things. One, is to figure out a character to cosplay, if I actually do some cosplay (which I want to) --- The thing is I would prefer to do someone with long red hair (I certainly don't want to dye or cut my hair), and the only character I can think of who isn't female would be Kenshin, and I don't know if I want to do Kenshin or not.... The other thing being, we need to get some other people to go down with us, either slap our friends who would have gone into not bailing on us again, or convince/find some other people to go.

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

7/14/2009 7:45:06 PM

So yeah, a couple more days until Otakon... My friend might be paying for his friend to come with us, just to have someone else to hang out with (more people is generally more fun), so if that is what ends up happening, that'll be cool.

Also on , there is a pre-Otakon munch being planned for Thursday night, which I plan on going to... should be interesting... also, it will be the first munch I will have been to. (Although I'm still slightly vauge on what exactly you do at a munch / etc, but, fnord)

I didn't mention in my last humungo entry, but, I started doing some vocals in Rock Band... Well I did all the Rock Band 1 songs, just to go through them, back before Rock Band 2 came out, but now I've been doing mostly Iron Maiden and Disturbed songs (with a few misc. others), and on expert instead of medium. It's kind of weird though in that I have to raise my voice to get into the next octave in order to sing anything, simply because my normal voice can't hit the bottom.. quarter-ish of the pitch meter bar thingy... But yeah.

I also have mostly gotten my DDR ability back to around where it was years ago when I was playing a lot and pretty decent at it... The other day I beat Paranoia Survivor Max, and beat Max 300 twice, and I was like, wow, that's pretty decent -- Especially since only a week and a half before that, when I started again, not only could I barely beat easy stuff very well, but after playing my legs and feet were sore for the next couple days (and I got a huge black bruise looking thing on the bottom of my foot that only now is finally starting to go away) -- And now after playing hard stuff, and not doing that bad at it, and doing a lot of it, the only thing that happened was sore feet (and no more bruises or any blisters or anything) for a day after, no sore legs or anything.

So yeah, wh00t for DDR.

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

7/9/2009 8:05:30 PM

So, next weekend is Otakon, which is of course going to be pretty great  since it always is pretty great... Although again this year out of potentially four other people who might have wanted to / been able to go down with is, none of them had the resources available to do it, so we're going to be splitting the room only two ways this year -- Although it's a much better price than last year so that isn't too bad... But, more importantly than having to pay more, it's just more fun when you go with more people. (Or at least have people to meet up with there, I don't think any of the people I know online who would want to go are going this year either)

That detail aside, of course, it's still going to be fun... So it's all good. ^_^ ... Now that I have a halfway decent camera I might actually get some (good) pictures this year, too.

I finally started actually working towards getting some IT certifications (starting with windows server admin for no specific reason, wasn't my first choice but it's not necessarily the worst one)... I'd say not long after Otakon I should be ready to take the first test, and then move on from there... So wh00t for that.

I have noticed though, going through the training kit book thing for this particular test, that man, having ADD sucks for reading things... I mean, I only stopped taking Ritalin (for having ADHD) after I got out of school, because I was mostly apathetic, and a bit lazy... So really, for no good reason. -- I did stop getting so many headaches all the time (from every few days down to almost never), however I don't quite remember if that was just gradual through High School or not... I was on a preventative medication for those (which I also stopped around when I stopped taking Ritalin, also for the same reasons, I believe), so that could have helped during that period and then IF Ritalin was a cause, that would explain a lot, but, there's really no way for me to tell...

In any case, though, trying to read what is basically pretty dry material, standard information stuff (especially when it's not that interesting/complicated or anything)... Some of the time it's like ugh, I'll get distracted, just in my thoughts, and have to go back a half a page and re-read something so that I know what I just read because my eyes were reading but my mind was thinking about crap... This has occured before but mainly it's happened when I would try to read things while tired/laying in bed, not so much in the middle of the day -- However for the last seven years I really haven't done much reading aside from some Manga and a couple of books, nothing really in the 'informational' category which I'd be more likely to get distracted from... So I don't know.

Basically I think I might need to go back on, if not Ritalin specifically, something to help with ADD... Which honestly I'm not really big on the idea of, but, if I can really work/learn much better with it... then...

Fnord.

So I don't know.

I finally got a couple of music books for learning some basic drumming, one that has a CD with it so you can practice playing / tying in with a bass and a band and stuff, and is mostly an intro to drumming (Of course a lot of basic rythm and stuff is no problem at all particularly coming from Rock Band... heh).. And the other book is a double bass specific book.. So woo for that. I've done a small amount of work on practicing them, I really want to do some more but man, I have work, and then I come home, and have only a little time to work on that, and that windows server training kit book (not that anything in that is hard, however few things in it are things I've actually worked with or messed around with ever, so it takes time to read and mess around with the specific things mentioned / practice excersizes / etc)... But yeah, I started a little bit, just need to dedicate some time to doing it.

Hmm, four months since the last entry (almost).. Nothing too major has happened aside from what I mentioned; I rearranged some stuff in my room a little bit, got a couple spinny shelf things (one for anime, one for games and some other stuff), a bookcase for manga and random stuff, another bookcase in the other room for games mostly... I got a fancy desk-mounted monitor arm for my monitor, one of the things I've wanted for a while but are just way more expensive than I want them to be, but I finally just said screw it and got one -- It's pretty awesome to have. (But seriously though, more than half what I paid for the [24" Widescreen LCD] Monitor, is what the arm cost -- Kind of crazy).. I got a couple stands, which I stacked and have my printer on, moved the Hutch thing onto my desk for more deskiness (replaced where it was with the previously mentioned bookcase) ----- Altogether, just a bunch of little things that are pretty useful/nifty but overly not major.

I have decided, at some point after Otakon (So I'll know what kind of money I have to work with, depends on what I buy while there), it's time to finally get with the times and make a new computer... I mean, running windows in two different VMs at once on a single core processor.. it's painful. (Not that, generally speaking, I intend to do that very much but, I really do need to switch to some kind of 64bit/multicore/PCI-e setup) -- However there are also a bunch of things coming out later this year that I'm going to need to get (Tekken 6, PS3 version of DDR, Guitar Hero 5, LEGO Rock Band, among others)... Well we'll see how things play out.

The annoying part about making a new computer is that it's very hard to find a case that I'm happy with... It seems the majority of cases don't seem to have removable motherboard trays, which I would really like to have... Although I would be willing to go without if I had to... But then a ton of cases also seem to have crazy lights and crap all over -- Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, most of them look decent and a few are particularly nifty, but... I need the option to turn the lights in the case off, otherwise my whole room is going to be lit up all night long, and I like it to be as dark as possible when I go to bed, heh... There are two cases that I am aware of with lighted fans and stuff that have an on/off switch for the lights, however one is red lights and one is blue lights.... and of course if I'm going to have lights, I'm going to want GREEN lights.

But, eh, I'll figure it out. (Or wait long enough for them to make a green one)

I started playing Stepmania (/DDR) again last week, for the first time in almost a year -- Holy crap, I was super rusty (also gave myself sore legs and a bruise on the bottom of my foot), but I played again a couple days ago and I was doing much better, back up to 'mildy out of practice' level, so wh00t for that...

Hmm, what else... Lately I've been playing Valkyria Chronicles, and I just have to say, it's a pretty fun game, definitely recommend it to anyone who would be remotely interested in the style of game it is. (If you hate strategy games and hate turn based games, it might not be a great game for you)

So yeah, fnord.

3/25/2009 8:50:57 PM
Man, it's been a while since I made a journal entry... So let's see..

Well, last month I posted about how the hinge on the rear fork on my bike kind of was falling out and got a temporary questionable fix -- it turns out that "temporary" fix lasted just fine for a month and a half... Probably longer, if I was going to continue to ride that bike, heh. Last week, I noticed, right before biking home from work, that there was a big old hole right in the rear suspension. I was like, oh, that's probably good... rode home, and haven't rode it since. (The hole probably explains a lot of the weird noises the bike was making, too)

Luckily though, I had already gotten a new bike, mostly I was waiting for some accessories for it to get here / the roads to be not so muddy/salty/snowy, or for my old bike to break.. So I could just switch to using that, and not be bikeless at all. (Well, I would have kept riding it even with the hole, at least a few times... Actually I imagine that hole was there for a while, I just didn't notice it)

I have pictures, both of the old bike with the hole, and the new bike (complete with fancy pants awesome grips, a stem extension, new fenders, etc), for the curious... www.fnord.us/bike/

And man, that new bike, is so much nicer to ride than my old one ever was.. it's great.

So bike issues aside, I also went on a little bit of a spending spree, as it were, and got a bunch of other new stuff... some computer stuff, some nifty shirts, some "toys" as it were (including a fancy-pants expensive one), a couple random things, and a rice cooker... Just got the rice cooker yesterday, it was cheap and I was like, wow, I didn't realize they were that cheap, and I figured it'd be nifty to have... Also I had been planning on starting to eat rice a lot more anyway since it's pretty cheap and probably healthier than ramen. =)

Other than that, things have been pretty much same as usual.. heh. =)

Speaking of having too many toys... I got a toolbox fuckingmachine, and a TaZapper, to add to my collection... So while that's a nice improvement to my collection (along with the two things I got before that, the impaler and the anal hook), at this point I really think I'm going to be waiting until I have someone I can 'play' with (as it were) before getting any more -- barring, of course, any spectacularly awesome deals on something great.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

2/11/2009 9:46:40 PM
Man, I have way too many toys, for someone who never has a chance to use any of them...

I just took some pictures of my collection, which I had a hard time fitting onto my bed, because a couple people were interested in seeing it... And, well, I have the pictures up at www.fnord.us/newtoypics/ ... (that last picture is a lot of rolls of vetrap)... I didn't get pictures of my rope though... nor did I get the two new toys I ordered (Don't have them yet); the "Impaler" (spreader bar with a bar going perpendicular from the middle that you attach an insertable to) and an anal hook with a ball on the insertable part.

But yeah, wh00t for toys.

Yay for bikes falling apart.

So, last Friday... I got on my bike to go to work (I was already running a little late actually).. and the pedal won't turn.. so I'm like, what the crap...

I messed with it a bit, and couldn't figure out what the heck was blocking the thing from turning... Got a ride into work, and a ride home... Then I was going to take the bike down to the bike shop so they could figure it out/fix it, but I fiddled with it a little and suddenly it was working, I was like, that's weird, but I guess if it works I don't need to take it down now. (I did need to get it tuned up anyway, but, that's something I'd do when I didn't have work the next day / not right before the weekend, sometime when I have a day off so I won't actually need it while it's being worked on).

Anyway then Saturday, it's doing the same thing again, once I get it outside anyway... But I get it so that I can kind of pedal, it just is hitting something and not working very well, but, I needed to get to work so, yeah... about halfway there it does it again.. actually I notice what was wrong before that, but, I was stopped at a light and then after that it wasn't working, and I was like crap I'm in the middle of the intersection and had to go forward pedaling back and forth the around 1/8 circle that the pedals would travel in, just to get to the side of the road.

So anyway, the inside part of the bottom hinge on the back fork (Rear suspension is a nice thing to have by the way), was coming out.... It was coming out right into the gears and preventing them from turning. (Actually it was hitting a little bolt thing on the side of the smallest gear, which is why I could move the pedals back and forth a fraction of a circle)... I managed to use a thin wrench I have to kind of pry it back inside the hole it was supposed to be in, worked well enough to get me to work, anyway.

Then after work, (And after I use some tools to tap the hinge piece in enough so that I could bike without it hitting the gear), I go over to the bank (across the parking lot), and then notice that the OTHER side of the thing, which was also sticking out, had fallen out... I was like, oh, that's good... Looked around the parking lot where I had been for it, didn't find it (Haven't found it since then either), so I don't know where I lost it, but, anyway that was missing.

Well lucky for me, the road is mostly straight between work and home, not many curves or turns, so, I made it more than halfway home, going slower than normal, not wanting the bike to fall apart on me... Well I go by the bike shop, not expecting them to be open since it was Saturday afternoon, but I see that they're open as I go by, so, I turn around and go back down to it.

When I go in the guy is just like, well I can see what the problem is, before I even have a chance to say anything.. he goes over and wobbles the bike, and, well, it totally wobbles (As in, the pivot was pivoting SIDEWAYS instead of up and down).. Then when they look at it, he was like, wow, I'm not even sure what to do with this.. It didn't help that I lost the piece that fell out... But they eventually put something in there that works, although he said it was only a very temporary fix and is likely to not work for long at all, maybe not even to get me home... Also didn't charge me for it, which was pretty awesome... But said I should probably get it welded, which would mean no more rear suspension, but would mean the back wheel isn't falling off of the bike. (It's a weird brand of bike, that they'd never heard of, so the hinge thing was a weird size and also they didn't know if they would be able to actually get the part that was needed for it, which is why they couldn't just fix it easily)

So that temporary fix has lasted a week now, seems to actually be holding up alright, which is cool and useful.. I'll probably see if my Unlce can weld it for me anyway though, just because now I don't really trust it even if it does seem to be fine.

But even after getting it welded (if it gets welded), I think what I'm going to do is just get a new bike... Luckily I've got the tax return so I can actually afford to do that, and I did want to do that eventually anyway because this bike is kind of crappy, but, I was kind of hoping it would get at least two years before I did... Fnord. In any case  now I'll probably be checking ebay for a decent deal (on a halway decent bike)... Probably  just wait until I can find a pretty awesome deal and then snag one, and just get this one welded and ride it as a hardtail until then. (Also, not going to bother getting this one tuned up or anything if I'm just going to get a new one in a month or so anyway)

Fnord.

I'm totally home from South Dakota now, woo.

So yeah, as I mentioned in my last post, I was out in South Dakota for a week with my sister, visiting my Mom/Half-sister/Stepdad... It was a decent trip, first time I've been out there.

It's a little to flat out there for me, colder there than here but I like the cold, so, yeah. (Plus I have a pretty great new Jacket I got for Christmas that is super t3h warm)... I didn't meet any of the people there (I hear stories about the strangeness of people out there), so I didn't get to experience that, but.. yeah, it's a place...

As far as visiting, I watched my sister's Horse riding lesson, and then her ice skating lesson and then we went ice skating.. First time I'd been skating in at least 10 years, heh.

It was my Mom's birthday while we were there, my Sister took us all to Outback steakhouse for dinner, and we made a crazy bread thing ( http://www.fnord.us/southdakota1/dsc00411.jpg ).. (Which wasn't actually on her birthday, but).. Then for her birthday we had cake, woo.

Other than that, the rest of the time was just pretty much hanging around the house, not doing anything particularly exciting.

One of my laptop's fans died while I was there, which sucked because it meant my laptop was only running super slow (throttling because of heat), and I couldn't use it for playing anything or anything that was in flash on the internet... I ordered a new one while I was there, and I actually have it now (just need to switch it which is slightly more annoying than it should be), but yeah, that kind of sucked.

I got a ton of pictures while I was there, I think more than 400 pictures, and a couple really short videos... I put all the pictures on facebook, and also have them on my server (which is going to be a lot slower than facebook would be, and I didn't bother making thumbnails/etc.) at www.fnord.us/southdakota1/ ... So woo.

Oh, and the flights back actually went fine, the first one even left a few minutes early, and then the next one was on time but had to get de-iced, but that made it so we were only about a half hour late overall so it wasn't bad.

Whenever I go out next, it will have to be sometime not in the winter though, so that we can go and actually see stuff outside. (My mom can't really be outside in the cold too much because of her knees/etc.--- Particularly when it's waaaay below freezing like it usually is out there).. Not just outside, but, also all the way across the state where the stuff to see actually is. =)

But, yeah, fnord.

Good old Airlines being crappy...

So, right now I'm in South Dakota, with my sister, visiting my Mom and my other sister.. but I'll make a decent post about that probably when I get back or something...

But, getting here was like, people need to be slapped (This was on Wednesday, when there was that bit of ice-storm-ness)... The first flight, supposed to leave from Bradley at 8:50 (boarding at like 8:30 or whatever)... They didn't drag the plane over to the gate until just before 9, then we got on the plane.... and had to wait for the de-icing truck thing to come over... The pilot was like, oh it'll be maybe 20 minutes.. then like 40 minutes or so later he was like, oh, it should just be about another 20 minutes.. etc... Anyway it took a while for it to get there, then after it got there it took a while to de-ice... it ran out of de-icing stuff and had to re-fill, which took a half hour, then came back and finally finished and we left..... at bloody noon.

Yes, we were sitting on the plane for THREE HOURS without moving... It was like, 0_o... And then the flight was only an hour and a half.

So of course, since our connection was supposed to leave at 11 to 11:30 ish, even if it had been delayed too, we totally missed it... so they put us on the next flight to Omaha (this was in Detroit by the way, not that it matters too much), which was supposed to leave about a half hour after we got t here, so we had just enough time to get to the gate, and grab something quick to eat..... EXCEPT that then, after I super t3h rushed back to the gate with some foods, I find out it was delayed an hour... then an hour and a half... we didn't actually get on it until about 2 and quarter hours after it was originally supposed to start being boarded....

THEN, they had to change a tire... and they had to change a flight computer display thing... and then de-ice... All that took an hour and a half... at least it wasn't twice as long as the flight but I mean, seriously... Also good that time was the pilot's time estimates weren't that far off and he kept us a little more updated.. they also had free alcohol on the flight but of course that wasn't useful for me since I don't drink.

In any case, then we finally got to Omaha, and of course had the three hour drive to Sioux Falls still left, so we didn't finish traveling until like midnight central time, instead of like four central time like it was supposed to be.

So, basically, fnord.

Well I had planned on, at some point, opening up the guitar hero drumkit, and seeing how feasable it would be to get just the d-pad, start, select, Playstation, Triangle/Circle/Square/X buttons, and the midi port (and batteries), separate from the rest of it, with the huge drum pads and cymbal arms and stuff taking up unneeded space.

But then the other day I notice someone made a thread on the Rock Band forums, showing how to do that, and I was like wow, that's totally really simple... Basically, the box with the D-Pad and buttons just comes right out, unscrew three screws and disconnect a cable, and bam, there you go.... And then the Midi port is attached to a small board, and there's another small board that everything is plugged into... take both of those boards out, and then plug the cable back into that box, and you're good to go.

Of course, it's a little nicer (and probably a lot less likely to break) if the boards and ports and stuff are inside the plastic boxy thing, instead of dangling... so... all that needs to be done to do that (as shown in that thread I saw), is cut a hole in part of that box for the midi port, and then put all the boards inside of it... and then just find a way to mount it to your drumkit.

Well, it was a little harder than that because I don't have any tools good for cutting through hard plastic, and I accidentally stabbed myself with the 3" blade on my Cybertool 41 (Woo swiss army knife), which didn't actually hurt that much but was totally bleeding a lot, also it was in the same finger that got sliced (and has a faint scar) a few years ago... And I accidentally ripped out the wires from the batteries. (really small wires, really easily broken.. heh)... But that wasn't anything that was hard to solder back together, and I had my uncle help me finish cutting the hole after I stabbed myself (He has a dremel, which is kind of very useful =).. Heh)...

So anyway now I have a fancy guitar hero drumkit-controller button box + midi port thing, all I need to do is find some kind of wingnut clamp (or any clamp really) to clamp it to the other end of the L-Rod that the drum brain is on... it'll fit very nicely right underneath it.... However I have not had much luck finding the kind of clamp I want on t3h intarwebs... Since I need one end to be the 9mm wingnut clamp (or anything that clamps to a 9mm rod), and the other end I need to attach to the baseplate of this box thing.

Hopefully it'll be something that I can find in a random hardware store or something, we'll see... but it can wait, it's nice just having the box instead of the whole drum controller laying on the chair.

A couple pictures of it (Not very good pictures, but, hey):  http://fnord.us/woo/drumcontrollermod1.jpg  http://fnord.us/woo/drumcontrollermod2.jpg  http://fnord.us/woo/drumcontrollermod3.jpg

(Woo)

So that's nifty.

Then I also got my new monitor yesterday, 24" widescreen LCD monitor, native 1920x1200 res... It could definitely be a little better, as far as image quality goes... and it seems way too bright (even if I turn the brightness and contrast all the way down)... But it's bigger than my  old monitor (Not that much taller, but it's a lot wider, being widescreen... heh)... And I can have it closer to the edge of the desk (Since there's space behind it where I can put stuff that was in front of the monitor before)... So yeah, woo for a bigger display.

The only other problem with it, that's a problem with LCD monitors in general, is that I can't fit all of the stuff that was on top of my old monitor, on top of the new one. ( http://fnord.us/woo/stuffonmonitor2.jpg - Stuff on the old monitor, heh. )

And of course I had to come up with a new wallpaper for once, what with the different aspect ratio and all... So, www.fnord.us/screen40.jpg - Totally new desktop screenshot, woo.

http://fnord.us/woo/newmonitor9.jpg  - Crappy picture of the new monitor... Heh.

11/24/2008 10:32:20 PM
So today, finally, Rock Band 2 got patched so that the Guitar Hero drum controller works to play drums in Rock Band now, which also means that I can now use my actual electric drumkit to play Rock Band 2... which is awesome.

It works great, with the small exception that it doesn't seem to recognize it as being velocity sensitive, and for freestyle yellow is hi-hat and blue and green are toms, and there's no way (at least with the voice options in my drumkit, but I'm guessing it would be the same with any kit) to make it think the cymbals are cymbals and the toms are toms, for freestyle sections.

So it's slightly annoying having yellow be the hi-hat for drum fills, but, hey... Playing on actual drums is just fun.

Woo.

Also I got my new glasses, they work... Have to see about getting a picture at some point (with a decent camera, heh)

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

Woo, my new glasses are in, which means sometime next week I'll go down and pick them up, and then hopefully get some pictures to show them off, heh. =)

Next week is kind of crazy as far as work goes... Monday I work 3 to 11:30 (in the morning)... And then Tuesday is 4-10 (at night) followed by 6:30 to 3, which means I really don't have time for doing anything (even sleeping) between getting home and going to work...

11/10/2008 9:54:42 AM
So yeah, Saturday was my birthday... Wasn't a very exciting birthday, but it was a good day.. I played some Rock Band 2, some Guitar Hero World Tour, watched some Lain, watched some Desert Punk, went to Red Lobster (Woo Endless shrimp), and hung out with a couple of my friends for a bit (although not at the same time)...

So yeah, good day, even if it didn't seem that different from any other day that I don't have work.

As far as presents, I got myself that drumkit that I mentioned, so woo for that. =) (Heh)... And I got a borders gift card, and new glasses (Which I should actually have next week)

Woo.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

11/6/2008 6:05:42 PM
Man, I am taking way too much advantach of discounted Halloween candy... (Well, spending too much on it, heh)... Right now I've got like... maybe 20 pounds or so of mostly peanut butter cups, with a few random things like Crunch, Snickers, Kit Kat, Three Musketeers, Junior Mints, etc, thrown in...

Woo for candy, anyway... Too bad I'm diabetic so I can't really pig out on it, but, what can you do. (Any guests I might have eat it more than I do, I generally keep a candy bowl around just for that... but yeah)

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

11/3/2008 6:00:38 PM
Speaking of that thread on Journal entries, I should probably post more of them... (Heh)

Well the drumkit I got works great, it's awesome for use in Guitar Hero World Tour (and for Rock Band 2 once that gets patched so that it will work), and it's nice to have some drums to mess around with, etc...

As of now I can only really do a few different basic beats, but yeah, it's fun. =)

And now... I've got my Birthday coming up on Saturday, no plans other than not working, and dinner with my family types... So I'll probably just be playing Guitar Hero or Rock Band all day, or something... Hopefully some of my friends will be around...

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

10/31/2008 8:43:17 PM
(Heh, first entry in a few months)

So, I finally got myself an actual electric drumkit... which I'm super excited about, now I can finally learn/practice playing drums... AND it has the added benifit of (via a MIDI cable) being a great thing to use for Rock Band and Guitar Hero as well. =).. It's pretty nifty, just got it completely set up yesterday... so yaay.

Other than that, last few months, nothing too noteworthy, work, gaming, etc... Fnord.

8/3/2008 10:13:51 PM
Otakon this week, should be pretty awesome.

Woo.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

7/24/2008 8:15:01 PM
I totally need to find some people to go to Otakon with us (to split costs), and I'm not having much luck... Originally I was going down with two of my friends, then one of them (just recently) let us know he wouldn't be able to afford going, at all... So I asked another of my friends, and he could go just fine... But then the other one of my friends who I was going to go with in the first place finds out he really doesn't have enough money to go, if we're only splitting Hotel/gas three ways...

So yeah, now, we have a hotel reservation, and me and my other friend are preregistered to go, and we just need to find anyone who wants to go with us, who can get the day off from work and at least mostly afford going (If we make it an uneven split with us paying more, it's still cheaper than not having anyone else to split costs with)...

But so far, we haven't found anyone who can go.. it doesn't help much that neither of us have a lot of friends...

There's still time left, though, so I'm hoping we can find someone.

Next year we're going to have to put an effort in to make sure my other friends actually have money set aside for it like, months ahead of time, so that we won't have to worry about it... have to love waiting to the last minute for something like this. (Although at least we have a hotel room close to the convention center)

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

4/19/2008 9:58:31 AM
Well I'm finally feeling mostly alright -- still a minor amount of pain/discomfort, but, nothing that stops me from, you know, doing things I feel like doing.

Of course I can't exert myself too much, but, things are getting better, so yaay for that.

Now I've got tons of free time between now and May 12... Other than five dentist appointmens (I'll finally have decent looking teeth, woo for that), and another followup appointment with my surgery... And probably a couple trips to the store for food...

Well anyway it's not like those take up that much time, so pretty much I almost have a month of doing any random thing I feel like doing (As long as it's not TOO strenuous of course)... Fun times.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

3/29/2008 10:03:38 AM
Well, I'm out of the Hospital... Not feeling great, but at least the surgery went fine, hopefully I'll start feeling better soon.

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

3/17/2008 7:51:00 PM
I've got surgery on Thursday, which I'm really not as excited about, now that I'm finally about to have it, as I probably should be -- I mean, finally being rid of this ileostomy, will be nice... I'm just hoping nothing crazy comes up right before (or during/after) the surgery, everything should be fine, but, fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

1/5/2008 10:38:28 AM
I finally got to do some three player Rock Band last night... And seriously, it's awesome.

I can't wait until I have another guitar controller that works in Rock Band (Either through the patch that Activision is currently blocking, or through getting another Stratocaster which I'll get anyway), so that I can some four player action in.. Which will just be awesome.

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

12/28/2007 7:48:42 PM
Also what sucks about recovering from Surgery... I have plenty of time that I could be using to play Rock Band, I'm totally in the mood to play some Rock Band... but, my body just isn't up to it right now, so I really can't (or at least, shouldn't).

Hopefully it won't be too much longer before I'll at least be able to do that.

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

12/28/2007 5:47:16 PM
Heh, laying in bed resting, which I'm doing a lot more of than usual at the moment because, you know, recovering from surgery... I keep thinking how nice it would be to have someone around to do some bondage-type activities with... But then it's like, well there isn't very much that could be done to me because I'm, you know, slightly in pain and can't move around as much as normal... I could do some things to someone else, but still, a lot less than normal... Anyway it's just a little silly, or at least was silly when I thought about it initially.

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

12/25/2007 7:29:09 PM
Just what I needed for Christmas... I had some emergency surgery last Thursday night (My intestines were kind of spilling out, had to be stuffed back in), but at least I'm out now...

Still recovering, out of work for a while, but, at least I'll have some free time.

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

Wh00t, totally got a decent amount of snow today... I love snow. =)

12/1/2007 4:05:34 PM
You know, it's too bad that my family isn't into BDSM related things, and that I don't know if they'd be fully supportive of BDSM related things or not... Because, they want a Christmas list from me (every year), and there's always some BDSM related toys I might like, but, of course, can't put on the list. (Of course I don't know if I'd really want any of those things from family members anyway, but, you know.)

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

11/26/2007 8:04:57 PM
So I got Rock Band last week, when it came out, and, well, it's awesome... That's really all that needs to be said about it, I could of course go on but I doubt many people will 1) read this in the first place and 2) care that much if they do read it.

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

11/8/2007 11:08:21 PM

10/17/2007 5:42:07 PM
Bah!... I had a vibrating inflatable anal plug, but the vibrator in it stopped working, and I couldn't get it out or get at it to try to fix it, so, now it's just a non-vibrating inflatable plug.

They don't really design those things with fixing them in mind... Oh well.

Although, I can probably stick an attachment for the Magic Wand in there for an even better amount of vibration, so, not all is lost. (Aside from still being able to use it without vibration which is good too)

Fnord.

10/16/2007 10:53:20 PM
Heh, I haven't posted an entry here in a while.... Not that I really have much to say though.

Lately I've been playing Portal, which is awesome, Half Life 2 Episode 2, which being Half Life is obviously awesome (Or at least it should be obvious.. heh), although the end of Episode 2 doesn't make me happy...

AND, I've been playing a lot of Everyday Shooter, which is a pretty nifty little game that just came out on the Playstation Network last week... It's not really easy to describe it and convey how nifty it is while doing so... So I'll just leave it at saying that it's awesome.

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

9/10/2007 8:20:25 PM
Well, I was going to have surgery on Thursday, but due to insurance reasons it got pushed back until January... On one hand that is a little crappy having to wait that much longer, on the other hand it will be a better time to have off and my situation in general probably will be better then.

Also I found out today that our rent is going to go up, although we don't know by how much... So, since we don't really like this apartment, it seems it's time to start looking for a new one near here...

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

8/14/2007 9:25:57 PM
So I'm getting a new bike, complete with fancy things like full suspension and disc brakes, it should be here on Monday... I'm looking forward to it.

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

8/10/2007 9:16:29 PM
So I discovered yesterdy that one of the spokes on the back tire of my bike happens to be broken, it's probably been broken for many months, but, the rim has gotten so bent out of shape that the tire wants to hit BOTH sides of the back fork no matter which angle I adjust it to.... So, while I managed to get it to only barely be scraping both sides, that really isn't going to be good for the tire, which leaves me with two options:

Either take the bike down to the bike shop and get it tuned up / a new spoke /etc. (It very badly needs to be tuned up anyway), or, just get a new bike like I want to do anyway, since this bike is so bent out of shape and has all kinds of rusty bits, also it's like ten years old so, that's a good run for a bike.

So yeah, I really want to get a new bike, but, I mean, I don't know.

Then of course with a new bike you have fancy new fangled things like front and rear suspension, which on one hand sounds nifty but on the other is something I've lived without and still could live without, and it makes the frame really weird (Rear suspension anyway), so I don't know, and then there are Disc brakes which I do want, but, yeah... To be honest even the very same bike I had already, but new, would be tons better than what I have, however, when it comes to replacing things that aren't working or whatever, I always figure if I'm spending money I might as well get something better...

In any case, that's a lot of rambling for a simple question, but, you know, fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

8/7/2007 7:17:53 PM
I just got Oblivion, it's pretty awesome... I can definately see it taking hundreds of hours to finish, I'm 13 hours in and have barely even done much besides a little exploring...

Maybe I should update this journal more often.

Let's see.. Lately, I've mostly been playing Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection... Definately my favorite Tekken so far, I'm loving the new character Lili... Woo.

Other than Tekken, well, fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

7/15/2007 8:39:43 PM
Woo, Vacation this week... yaaay for a week of not having to work.

Fnord.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

7/13/2007 8:44:49 PM
So anyway, let's see, interesting things that happened today...

First, my surgery had to get pushed back a month, so now it's September 13th instead of the beginning of August.. which, to be honest, is really better for me anyway, and I've already waited this long another month won't really matter... Plus the longer before I have it, the longer I'll have to deal with anything that might happen after.

Then, I spent way too much money, money that I probably should have used for other things, and ordered a PS3 since 1) I'm going to need it for Rock Band (Since at least at this point, they haven't announced a version for the Wii, otherwise I'd of course just get that), and 2) They apparantly are in the process of phasing out the 60 gig PS3s which have the PS2 hardware (Emotion Engine chip) in them, and any new PS3s are apparantly going to only use Software emulation -- And software emulation sucks... So I figured I'd get one now so that I didn't have to get a crappy software emulating one later. (I mean, I do still have an actual PS2 of course but even so, I don't want crippled hardware.. heh)

So yeah, that's that for today.

Fnord.
