Now then...

BDSM is more than just the bondage, the punishments, the ordeals you think about having to go through.  It is rather the anticipation, the unknowing, the possibility of a fantasy locked deep within becoming a played-out reality in the company of someone you admire, trust, and choose to submit to.

To me, bondage is not the immitation pink fur-lined handcuffs with several links between them and release lever on the side.  It's a pair of police grade high security hinged cuffs that double lock, and you don't have a key.  Even if you did have a key, tough luck, the key holes are purposely turned the opposite way of your free fingers and besides, there are thumbcuffs to keep those digits in check too.

To me, whips are not the party store novelty variety that weight about an ounce.  They are multi-plait kangaroo hide professional grade whips that take skill and time to learn, take perseverance to endure when used upon you, and take time and patience to wait for the welts on your skin to subside and go away.

To me, you get to choose whom you submit to, but not what you submit to.

To me, bondage is not some boat rope tied quickly around your arms and legs as you sit in a chair, it's something more like a back-arching hogtie, elbows crushed together behind your back, ankles drawn up to your wrists, and not having a snow ball's chance in hell of escaping on your own.

To me, BDSM should be real and not some fake set of motions we choose to go through once or twice to fulfill a mere curiosity.  However a curiosity can be nurtured into a fantasy, and that into a reality, and that reality should become a fundamental part of who we are.
