In succinct terms, all continua admit of progression, with words commonly used to identify particular points on that continua. For example, discomfort shades into pain, and pain shades into agony. But there is no word for greater agony. 

If discomfort is mild, pain is truly aversive, and agony all-consuming, then what is next in the sequence? 

With that in mind, I propose a continuum of submission: sub, slave, object / property, doormat / entertainment, non-entity. What lies beyond non-entity? 

In brief, a non-entity is a former person, degraded deeper than doormat, past objectification, such that the person object is no longer recognized as having even existence. a non-entity is not spoken to, not acknowledged, simply used at times and fading into non-existence until the next time it is needed.

Today was a very good day. For the last year, I have worked my rotten, soul-sucking evil day job, and developed a new interface for online sales. I never gave much thought to the money end. I just assumed that a demonstrably better product would fare well...that was naive. I failed to account for the general laziness and incompetence of business people...failed to account for what is not just a lack of curiousity but is in fact an actual aversion to anything new at all...and while I literally hold in my hand a slice of the future, people are too stupid to even look at it. These last days, a full three months of them, 90, count them 90 days, have not been good days. But today was a very good day. I eschewed email - which no one even reads, forget answer - and walked into a grocery shop which is the Platonic perfect form of my ideal target market, and made my case to the counter-man, who is one of the two brothers who own the place...he looked...he saw...he gave me his business card. Today was a very good day. Today I proved, on a deep level of confidence, what I have always known, that quality can win out, and the commitment and year of work was not foolish but farsighted. I believe that with intensive work, my interface can generate several millions of dollars over the next few years. Today was a very good day.

Anyone have any hard data on how many people are being held in intially consensal captivity? By this I mean someone who consented to a period of captivity / imprisonment during which pleas, demands, and requests for release are ignored. Let us suppose that one person in 10,000 seeks and actually submits to such captivity.
