The translation above does not say “give up your uniqueness.” It says “give up your sense of separateness.” Each of us is a unique manifestation of the Self. We do not lose this uniqueness when we acknowledge our oneness and identity as the Self. It simply gives us a perspective that allows us to lose our fear, give up our worry about security and death, and allow ourselves to be guided by our true Consciousness that will provide us with everything we need. This does not mean doing nothing and expecting handouts – but rather letting the Self speak through us and guide us - instead of operating from a “dog eat dog” or “me against the world” mentality.
