What is nymphomania?
According to Mosby's Medical dictionary edition 8; nymphomania is "psycho-sexual disorder of women characterized by an insatiable desire for sexual satisfaction, often resulting from an unconscious conflict concerning personal adequacy." Men suffering from nymphomania are often diagnosed as "hypersexual". There is a social stigma that is associated with "nymphomania", which is a very real and very dangerous sexual addiction.
Nymphomania, according to the Mayo Clinic, can be caused by medical conditions such as; higher than normal brain checmicals "neurotransmitters" such as serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine, and brain abnormalities in the areas of the brain that affect sexual desires. Androgens which are sex hormones (found in both men and women) can cause sexual compulsion disorders. It is a common theory that compulsive sexual disorders such as nymphomania can change the wiring "neuro circuits" in your brain.
These types of causes can impact other areas besides an unnatural sex drive. They can be medically serious disorders that can have the side effect of "nymphomania". That alone should be enough to make most people seek medical help if they think they have this disorder. Some symptoms you may have if you suffer from nymphomania are:
Multiple sex partners or annonymous partners.
Excessive masterbation or using sex services such as; chat, text, pornography, and/or on-line sex services.
Exhibitionism, masochistic, sadistic or other sexual conditions.
Emotional detachment in sexual relationships.
Talking dirty portraying oneself in a sexual manner all the time (flaunting assests)
All symptoms can range in frequency or level depending on the cause of nymphomania and the length of time the sufferer has had it. With most addictions achieving the high gets harder and harder as time goes on. Sometimes sufferers of nymphomania or hypersexuality get to the point that they will do anything for sexual release (high). They are compulsed to the point that they damage every other area in their life. They do not care who they hurt(relationships) or what they lose(job, home, vehicle). Nothing matters but getting that next high.
