I have just come out of an 8 yr common law relationship, ( 8 months ago)and am looking to make new friends. I am doing just fine emotionally. My only current obstacle is time and scheduling for my social life around my other commitments to family and my career.

I love music. I grew up on 60s/70s pop and classic rock, and heavy metal. These seem to have forged their way into my DNA, and I cannot separate my love of music from my everyday life.
Music to me, can help establish my mood, and lift it when it needs lifting. Music triggers all sorts of huge memories for me, and I have a story ( which may not be interesting to anyone but me!) for so many classic rock and pop songs of the 60s-80s. Maybe I can create a musical diary---a song followed by a written or audio commentary on my life as it relates to the song. I think this would be so great for my kids to have when they get older---to understand their old man.
Right now they think I am one big nerd for not enjoying hip hop and rap. I also do not enjoy country music, but I respect them and the artists!
I play drums...and would like to find time to play in a bar-band again sometime. I played in a Led Zep tribute band and it was such a high for me (no pun intended! I do not do drugs...).
I like to surf the net, or read Rolling Stone magazine and search out new rock music. I like seeing live bands ---in bars or elsewhere.
However I hate the dance-club/bar-scene, where you go to drink for the sake of drinking.
I was thrilled to read about Charlie Watts the drummer in the Stones----and similar to him as he relates in one of their biographies--I can drum, but I cannot dance! I am, though--quite open to learning how to with a partner who is patient and will not make me crumble in embarrassment as I try to learn!

I love food. All kinds..I like to explore all foods. I like Sushi. Beer. Wine. I drink only in great moderation, and hate feeling drunk. In fact I hate people who are drunk--they are such a bore and embarrassing if you are sober and hanging around them.
Making martinis is something I like to experiment with.
I love BBQ.
I like to cook, and love to experiment with recipes. I may not be super 'organized 'when making several recipes at once---but I love trying. Cooking with a woman, while sipping wine or martinis, and enjoying our company is something I enjoy.
Beers on a patio and people watching is fun! Browsing bookstores and wanting to buy hundreds of books at a time , totally undecided on what I want to read first...is fun to do together.

I love audio books on my iPod or in the car.

I love magazines of all types---music, health, science, fitness.
