Not much for bowing and scraping, but I've always been attracted to smart, strong, ambitious women and can be very attentive and eager to please for the right one.
I'd describe myself as polite, loyal, introspective, cerebral, generally skeptical though open to new ideas and intellectual challenges, painfully self-aware, occasionally dour, often self-mocking. Charmingly so, I like to think. Prone to sentence fragments, but capable of wielding a semicolon when pressed.
I'll never be obsequious and uncritical, but I endeavor to be supportive, and I understand when a decision is final (even if I disagree with it) and how to close ranks. In the context of a committed relationship, I understand that we will bear the consequences of Your decisions together, a notion I find both thrilling and romantic.
Though I'm fond of fetish fashion, particularly the more subtle expressions of that aesthetic, I'm less interested in the trappings and accoutrements of bdsm than in the intense intimacy and sense of communion that can result from the surrender to another. Public scening has no appeal for me - I find it campy, actually - and though some element of formality in a relationship can reinforce the D/s dynamic, I'm drawn more to the general idea of submission and devotion than to particular acts and protocols.
So... my ideal woman would be thoughtful, humane, driven, ambitious (professionally, intellectually, or artistically), reasonably attractive, around my age, opinionated, demanding, cultured, and curious. I don't expect her to be constantly dominating or infallible, and temperamental is fine. But someone with aspirations and interests outside the "lifestyle" (that term always makes me cringe). I seek a life informed, not consumed, by D/s, but one in which her needs and desires come first.
