Went to the gym the other night. I have a PT but the christmas silly season had gotten in the way of my regular gym attendance. So the PT did what a good coach should and called me and asked if I was good for our regular time. Yes! I realised I had gotten slack.
We worked on upper body. For the next three days I could hardly raise my arms. They felt so like jelly.
This week we worked on legs. The idea here is to work each individual muscle to exhaustion.
Well now it hurts to sit or stand. Interestingly it has motivated me to do more exercise not less. Running seems hard at the moment. Not just due to the muscle pain but an acompanying weakness. So I have gone for some decent walks and also to the gym where I am working on the upper body stuff.
A reminder that some pain is good. It makes me stronger physically and increases alerness and motivation.
A reminder of the value of a PT. He pushed me to heavier weights and encouraged me continually. I ended up achieving much more than I would on my own and I am a pretty self motivated person. |
