Arriving at someone’s front door that you have never met having arranged to be beaten can be a daunting experience. Even though you may have decided on the number of strokes you are to be given you don’t know how hard those strokes will be. As often as not it can also be an anti-climax but the doubt is there.

To dispel those doubts for a first session the following is suggested. What has gone before with other people has little relevance so, without too much chat, the visitor prepares to be beaten which means stripping off. Wrist and ankle straps are attached and he goes to the Beating Bench where he is attached to it. In an actual punishment beating the number of strokes is not up for discussion so he is given 6 with a fairly light cane. After a minute or two to think about it he is asked what he thought of it and if he wants or thinks he can take more. Should he answer: ‘Yes’ he is given another 6 with a slightly better cane and the exercise is repeated, possibly with an increased number of strokes until he says he has had enough.  Should he say: ‘No’ after the initial beating he is given another 6 and released.  Once over the Beating Bench the natural instinct is to get free from the restraints as soon as possible. By following this procedure the visitor knows what he is to get and has some control over the beating but the element of compulsion, essential to maintain the principle of corporal punishment, is there as well.

Before the session starts the visitor knows that he is going to get a minimum of 12 strokes, 6 of which will be fairly easy, and by the end of the session he will at least have had a beating and the beater should know how to manage further sessions.

Note that if the beater judges that the visitor has ended the beating far too prematurely he may impose extra strokes.
