I am a switch for those who think of a switch as someone who is confused allow me to enlighten YOU.

A switch has the confidence to make choices clearly and concisely while also knowing when its wise to lead and when its time to follow.

During the day I am an alpha male. My work is high pressure that comes with immediate consequences for those who fail to live up to expectations. Myself included

For most of us leadership did not come at our request, leadership was bestowed upon us by faith or by those who saw in us abilities that exceeded our own beliefs.

I spend much of my time in a position of control I direct both man and machine.

I decide which team does what, when and how.

This is my life it is one I choose and enjoy. Ive worked in this position of authority for 40 hours a week, for 48 weeks a year for 20 plus years.

I can openly admit having such responsibility day in and day out requires those of us in this position to lay awake at night wondering what new challenges tomorrow will bring only to awaken left to decide how will succeed in turning dreams into reality safely.

Blueprints can tell a construction worker where a building is supposed to go.
Its finely drawn lines can describe how many floors it should have.
It will tell us what color carpet you will walk on as well as what cabinets go where, and the color of the walls.

However the minute those drawings are accepted its the job of the Tradesman and Craftsman to find a way to build it.

Weve honed this craft since the time of the Roman Empire.
The life of a tradesman is by no means glamorous On Monday my brothers sisters can be found working in ankle deep mosquito infested pools of rain water toiling in dug out holes that will one day be a basement, on Tuesday you may find us pouring molten hot tar on a rooftop under the heat hottest summer sun above you.

Come winter every foreman can be heard utering the phrase

not many outsiders understand the meaning.

Rest assured that when the work day is done no matter what our work is we all look for a place of respite.

For me that place for me lies in the realm of this lifestyle, where I can replenish myself breathe again.

Here my only responsibility is to serve, to do what I am asked or told to do.
