How I love The Crown. And envy the servants whose profession it is to attend to the Queen. Silent and withdrawn. With head bowed as she passes. Gaining no gratitude or recognition from their Sovereign for their service. They are simply there for Her Majesty. Tools and toys who serve at Her pleasure.
Oh to be a domestic slave. A houseboy. One whose only goal and joy is to spare his Lady from the menial hardships of domestic life. To wait on her hand and foot. To have her want for nothing. To obey her every command and ensure that the red carpet is laid out in front of her where every she steps.
I look for neither thanks or recognition. How seemingly appropriate to be taken for granted and treated as no more than a shadow by her side. She who leads her life according to her needs and longings. Her dreams and desires. She, who banishes me from her sight when her whims dictate. Who puts herself first and who appreciates my desire to be trailing way behind last.
The toil and the strife is welcomed by a desire that only chastity can nurture in such a sensual way.
Yes, I envy the role of the roman slaves who stand patiently in the background as their Mistresses spend hours and days of playful leisure. The victorian servants whose place an status in life keeps them downstairs and out of the way of the ladies they serve.
But the life seems to be out of reach. Geography and circumstances have seen to that.
A shame really. To serve with the utmost devotion would suit the likes of me.....
