A few things about me...
-I'm fun, honest and kind-hearted. I'm an easy person to get along with and I seem to make friends everywhere I go. I'm pretty well-versed in a number of random subjects (i. e. I once got a perfect score on a 'Saved By the Bell' trivia game...ugh, maybe I should consider leaving this particular factoid out) and am very passionate about life in general.
-I have a tendency to be impetuous. If someone finds that attractive, then they call me 'spontaneous.' When they find it detrimental, they call me 'flighty.'
-I love spending time with my friends and family and am very protective of the folks I care about.
-I'm passionate about politics and civic affairs. I was a precinct captain for Obama during the NY primaries in 2008 and still stay very involved and engaged with the issues. That beng said, I'm open to being with someone who holds views different from my own; I'm not intimidated by strong opinions.
-I will never let distance keep me away from being with someone I truly love and want to be with. I really believe with all my heart that true love will conquer oceans, deserts and mountains...unless you live in Alaska. I mean, it's freezing up there. Seriously.
-Years ago, in an effort to look like I know what I'm doing while at parties or clubs, I began to dance like Snoop Dogg. The issue is that I now 'dance' in this matter regardless of the music that's playing. Whether it's Salsa, Death Metal or Polka, my hands are... well...in the air like I just don't care. I realize that it will take a very strong woman to break me out of this, but hey, the first step is admitting that there is a problem, right?
-I LOVE the holiday seasons, especially Christmas (I'm the guy who watches 'It's a Wonderful Life' every year) and Halloween (if you're with me, rest assured that you will be dragged to every corny Haunted House and hayride I can find).
-I really love Texas, for the heat more than anything. Even though I was raised in Antartica, er, Upstate NY, I spent several years down south which I suspect thinned my blood out. Plus, 85% of my wardrobe are t-shirts and I'm happy to be able to wear them for more than two months a year.
-I hate big weddings. The frenzied planning that has everyone at each other's throats, the crowds of people we most likely will never see again for most of our lives, the hurt feelings of friends and family jockeying for the best spots in the wedding party... If my wife forces me to do the whole 'Barbie'-style gigantic white wedding, I will go along, maintaining the veneer of a good soldier/docile husband...until the reception, at which point I will punish her by dragging her father up there and singing a brutally tone-deaf duet of "To All the Girls I've Loved Before." Swear to God.
I'm very attracted to confident, outgoing, vivacious and intelligent women, especially someone who has a big heart for her family and who doesn't mind looking after me a little, as left to my own devices, I'd probably eat fast food and pizza everyday and stay up watching old movies all night. Conversation is something I really value, so it would be great to meet someone who loves sharing their thoughts about work, family, culture, life, etc. It would also be great to meet someone who likes to travel, whether flying someplace where we'll need our passports or just calling off for a day or two and hopping in the car and just driving.
I read a lot, all day, whether a political blog at my desk, a newspaper at lunch or a book before I fall asleep. I'm really a non-fiction kind of guy; I like biographies, history and film criticism. My favorite book? Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison
While I'm pretty new to this community in terms of activity, I'm certainly not when it comes to desire. I am definitely open to friends and play, but my ultimate goal would be to find someone compatable to eventually share my life with.
Most importantly, I love to laugh all the time and I can't imagine being with someone who doesn't have a great sense of humor : )
