I thought I found a life and soulmate many years ago. She introduced me to a side of myself that I had never imagined. We came here to explore and have fun.

Eventually, our paths diverged but I find myself here, still.

I'm not bound by labels or dogma... as if one could decribe the color red vs. green with words alone. Hoping to find friends of the same mind. Pain? Sure... the contrasts and physicality are exclamation marks that make life interesting. Power-exchange? MMMmmmm.

What makes you smile? What makes you grimace?

A pocket full of pretty stones. To a casual observer they all looked the same. To Her, each a memory... a place, a morning, or a smile.  At one time, cherished... but burdensome now.

She empties her pocket and ponders, "...which to keep and which to let go?".

I've been tossed back into the water with a PLINK or maybe a PLUNK! All we had shared transformed into ripples of expanding rings... fading to nothing in the current.

Ironically, I rejoice.

She'll have room for new stones. "Sparklier" than I ever was. Moments that awe and amaze beyond possible.  Perhaps, one will be her "bestest" to be kept and cherished forever. Plink-proof. Plunk-less.

As the cool water tumbles me along, I contemplate my fate.

They say the true colors of a stone are revealed only when wet. Others reveal their beauty and value when broken open.

Perhaps... someone will bend down to revel at the smoothness of my surface... worn by the hardness of this life?  Perhaps... her knowing eye will ponder over the beauty within?

I long for the warm and quiet intimacy of a pocket again... to be Cherished once again.
