There is an inherent responsibility in BDSM to take care of your Sub’s needs. To an astute Dom, a sub’s needs are mostly basic, emotional needs. The need to feel like they are being submissive, the need to feel like they are succeeding and pleasing, the need to feel wanted and loved. One of the worst things you can do with your submissive is to make her feel like she’s boring, or that you’re bored with her. It pretty much destroys her foundations in every way.
The truth is, true power comes in serving. This is a contradiction that many Doms don’t seem to understand. They quote all the great words of “teaching and guiding the sub”, but spend so much more time talking about sexual scenes and pleasure. The Dom’s service to his sub, his primary responsibility, lies in taking care of her mental, emotional, and physical needs. A good Dom shows concern and wants to be someone who is available.
