I thought I'd add some of my tastes here to give potential Doms a small idea of them.

Music: Absolute favorites right now are John Grant (also his former band The Czars) and Neko Case (also her sometimes band The New Pornographers). I tend to like things that are brilliant in an offbeat way--musicians who've been to art school and artists who've been to plumbing school kinda stuff. Tom Waits, Ryan (not Bryan) Adams, Beth Orton, Lucinda Williams... I like many kinds of music, though, but not in a cataloging sort of way where I reel off band and song names ad nauseam. I'm more of a "plug a couple of names into Pandora and see where it goes and what I discover" kind of person. I do also enjoy classical and opera, especially live.

Art: I go through phases. I tend to like things from the turn of the 20th century through about 1930 best, but appreciate most visual art and love wandering in museums soaking it in.

Literature: The same period, 1900-1930ish resonates with me a lot--Virginia Woolf, Djuna Barnes, H.D., Pound. I do like a lot of contemporary literature as well--Don DeLillo, Louise Erdrich, Mary Oliver. Guilty pleasures are murder mysteries all the way! Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers, even some lowbrow Janet Evanovich all find their way into my hands at some point. I was an English major, so I've read and enjoyed most types of lit from Chaucer through today.

TV/Movies: Always a sucker for said murder mysteries; less so the police procedural type and more the Masterpiece type. Poirot never gets old. I watch a lot of British stuff, I guess. I like things that teach me something or have a unique point of view as well. One movie that semi-recently burrowed under my skin for a while was Her with Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johanssen. I do almost always like Woody Allen's stuff as well, from the "older funnier stuff" to experiments like Shadows and Fog and romantic narratives. Again, I'm not really the cataloging type so I don't go out of my way keeping up on pop or hipster culture, I just come across this and that on my merry way.

Food/drink: Sadly for my love of trying new tastes, ethnic foods of every deion, good coffees, wines, beers, and spirits, I have had to change my nutritional approach to Auto-Immune Paleo in recent months. It's still full of good food but much more limited. And no more caffeine or alcohol. Gotta take care of my body and apparently this is what it needs these days. :)

Podcasts: RadioLab is awesome--I'm an addict. I've also been listening to The Heart, Fresh Air, Wait Wait, Meditation Oasis, Here's The Thing, Invisibilia. I wish Brain Pickings had one!
