| Perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of being in education for 24 years is having the ability to see first hand the ever evolving role of females and males. When I was starting out my career as a high school teacher, although there were always exceptions to the rule, males led almost every aspect of the educational process. This was seen not only in the classrooms with students, but with teachers and administrators as well.
Now, things have almost, if not completely reversed themselves. Females generally get the top grades in classes, most of the very best teachers are females, and I am the only male administrator in this high school with a total of seven female administrators. (And if I were not the longest tenured administrator here, I would sometimes think of myself as the "token" male!
When I started dating years ago, it seemed that most females were of the mindset that it was there job to make us happy and put a smile on our face. Now ... well, things have definitely changed.
My school is approximately 50 / 50 % white / black. Years ago, it seemed that there was an unspoken hierachy of white males, white females, black females, black males. Today it is without a doubt, black males, black females (But it is quite evident that black females make the decisions in any relationship, white females, and white males. Just last week I had a black female (fellow administrator) in my office telling me that before she dies, she expects to see black men rule the vast majority of white men, with only black females and a very few white females ruling the black men.
Not sure where all of this is going, but it is quite evident that females are in the process of grasping ever increasing amounts of power both in public and private. From what I have seen and experienced, once they have the power, they are very hesitant to ever give it back.
The question for a guy like me is ... What do I do now? Do I fly like a moth towards the flame, or fight it until my last dying breath?
AND, how is it possible for a female to convince a guy, that he is to hand over control to her of his most prized possession.
