Mt Fuji: We approuched the ascent like we do everything in our lives, with vigor. Its not a terribly difficult trek, but we had our moments of fatigue. We have lived at sea level you see, it is the nature of our jobs. We are sailors, well traveled, and used to the beautifully oxigen rich air and stary nights of the pacific ocean. These are things you don't think of until you are 10000 feet above sea level and all you see is the haze that marks the upper most section of the mountin. The summit met our enthusiasm at the four hour mark. Calfs alive with the sting of effort and water pouches close to empty. The day had been overly windy so the huts at the summit that burn your stick with the stamp signifying your accomplishment had closed. To commemorate our deed we opened a small flask of habusaki and enjoyed a toast. |
