Wrote this two days ago on Thursday:
Wow! Yeah.. wow! It was one of those days..... After an early morning of shopping and book browsing at the library, I came home to a carport full of 2" of rain water. Well, obviously not safe as there's a fridge and freezer out there. Opened the back door and we had created two new lakes and a river. I contemplated naming them all due to their size. After all, if they landed in my backyard, they wanted to be remembered. Don't worry, I won't easily forget them.
Being a resourceful little girl, I knew what had to be done, sigh... Oh well, I'm up for it and have had plenty of experience. Grab the shovel and the broom. I spent two hours or more digging a canal ummm okay I guess they're named ditches - it just sounds so much more interesting than "ditch." Singing in the rain.... yeah right - he wasn't digging a ditch that ran from the backyard to the road standing in ankle deep water with mud. Ooooo let's not forget all those little wormies that I dug up too - ewwww.
Now what's with the broom? I unplugged the appliances. Don't really want to be electrocuted you know. Luckily the van was sitting in front of the house. Grab that large broom and sweep! It's the perfect way of removing standing water on concrete.
Continued to play with my canal until almost dinner. Looks like it's pretty well drained and should hold up through winter. My sweet old neighbor says that he's never seen my backyard looking like that. Well, lucky me lol.
Now, just so long as I can back out correctly. Our driveway is slanted at an angle, making it quite difficult to head out straight, which is obviously the way the van likes to go. Only problem, now if it decides to have a mind of its own, my sweet van is going to end up in its axles deep in mud and that wonderful little canal I built. Egad, I've got mud and grass sitting out there in the lawn. My poor little yard.... Just sitting here laughing - the only thing that I can do.
