1 - I've lived in NYC all my life, but my ties (of family, friends) aren't necessarily here geographically. I can see myself living elsewhere. I love the South for example, I suspect there's a southern soul in this Yankee heart. And I like the idea of conquering a new city. Like Frank says, I've made it here, so I can make it anywhere.
2 - My potential partner may have stronger ties to her area. While there are some doms who might need to take their sub/slave away from their support system in order to secure their hold. I have a bit more confidence than that. Some might call it arrogance. <shrug> Tomato, tomato.
This doesn't mean I'm insisting on relocating either. A lot of benefits to finding someone local. I just don't limit my options.
