Outside of BDSM, I am an artist, an avid reader (preferably science fiction and fantasy) and a gamer. I work in a variety of art mediums but prefer digital (Photoshop) and currently use Photoshop Creative Suite 5 and a Huion KAMVAS GT-191 graphical drawing tablet. The graphical drawing tablet is a very nice step up from the Wacom Bamboo Id used for at least a decade! In traditional media Im currently working in oil paints quite a lot but I also enjoy graphite, colored pencils and water solublewatercolor pencils a lot. My main genre of art is... fantasy and science fiction! I do a lot of work in custom character portraits of peoples gaming characters. Some of my artistic inspirations are as follows Kouta Hirano, Boris Vallejo, Julie Bell, Frank Frazetta, Brom, Larry Elmore, Jeff Easley, Wendy Pini, Steve Bennett, Caravaggio, Michelangelo, Andrew Loomis, Rick Tucker, Barry Windsor-Smith, Jan Stein, Jan Vermeer, Lucian Freud, Jean-Honor Fragonard, Alphonse Mucha, Olivia De Berardinis, Gil Elvgren, Maxfield Parrish, Dave Greco, Nen and Im sure there are others I cant think of right now.
I read an average of about 125-150 books a year of novel length. I like big books and I cannot lie! Its hard to say whether I enjoy fantasy or science fiction more. I can happily bounce between the two genres. Some of my favorite authors are as follows (this is by no means a complete list, just some I can think of at the moment) Piers Anthony, Elizabeth Moon, Elaine Cunningham, Anne McCaffrey, A.C. Crispin, R.A. Heinlein, J. R. R. Tolkien, Isaac Azimov, Larry Niven, Faith Hunter, Charlie N. Holmberg, R.A. Salvatore, Sean McMullen, Frank Herbert, Kevin Hearne, Laurell K. Hamilton, Kelley Armstrong and dozens more! I also enjoy comic books and manga (I have a small yaoi library). I would love to be a serious comic book collector but cant due to lack of space... that space being taken up by books and art supplies.
I have been playing role playing games since I was 10 years old when I started playing Dungeons Dragons. I began playing World of Warcraft in 2006 and I still love it. I occasionally (read very rarely) log on to Second Life to chat with friends and acquaintances there. I have also played DC Universe Online, Star Trek Online and Neverwinter Nights MMO (the first version). Right now Im Final Fantasy XIV online almost exclusively. I am really in love with this game right and having a great time playing it! I play Batman on a MUX and I also play on a Forgotten Realms Dungeons Dragons MUD.
I tend to play (and role play) primarily male characters. I dont know why, but I enjoy the challenge of role playing a convincing male character. Besides, Im a woman every day of my real life, so I want to try being someone radically different from myself in my fantasy life. This is not to say I dont have female characters, but I dont play them as often. I also suffer about 99 LESS harassment online when other gamers assume Im a man. I suppose male privilege is good for at least one thing.
I also enjoy anime, manga, fine dining, cooking, wine, travel, shooting (target and trap) and sci-fifantasy conventions. I have traveled across America, to Europe, Mexico, the Bahamas and Japan and I look forward to more travel in my future. My favorite color is blue and I struggle to not use it too much in my art. I love animals, particularly my family of rescue cats (who are all in revolt right now while we have a foster dog in the house).
