We have some experience but not a lot because sadly we don't have a lot of time/opportunity to play.
When I met my sub she was mostly vanilla in all respects. We began our relationship with lots of emails, and chatting. Over time we realized there was a big empty space in her life, I filled that empty space with appreciation, encouragement, kindness, the demand for sexual obedience, and love.

(Ironically in the right situation this would be fine -honesty would be better than claiming to a "A true dominate that is not to rough". (some few will understand - why the example I gave is irksome; and no, clearly we are not usually the grammar police)
