Coming home from work you're there
Kneeling at my feet, eyes down
I lay my hand upon your hair
Then look around the room and frown
"Pet, did you do all that I asked?"
You silently shake your head.
My sorrow is not easily masked
As I lead you upstairs to the bed.
A punishment owed, pain deserved
Yet given to both you and I
For as the paddle falls and swerves
It causes MY heart to die.
