So many feelings coursing through me right now... I took in a girl this week who's boyfriend laid that oh so classy line on her "If you try to leave me, I'll kill you". She reached out to me terrified and asking for a safe place to stay. When she finally got the courage to run.. she packed a small bag with whatever she could grab, left her cell behind for fear of being tracked and started walking to find a payphone to call me. On the way some piece of shit offered her a ride and instead got her high on meth for the next 15 hours. When she finally got the courage to escape from that situation, that fine human being dropped her at a fast food place in South LA and told her that I'd probably not show up. What a prince.... well show up I did. Then spent the last week cleaning her up, getting her to eat whatever I could, getting her feeling like a normal human being again and boosting that self-esteem up to where she was able to call her parents to come help her... which they're on a flight today to come take over. This city is like a black hole when it comes to young girls with nowhere to go... I'm just glad I was able to bounce her out of it for a week at least. |
