| I am a Dom that has been out of the active lifestyle for a few years. I am looking to get back into it again. That said, I have been in the lifestyle as both a Dom and a Master. Many think there is little difference, but understand that the level of dedication to the relationship is much different for both the Dom\sub and the Master\slave. The BDSM lifestyle is as varied as the community it serves. I doubt you can find two people to agree 100% on what exactly it means. I have always held to the thought that one of the things that is so attractive about the lifestyle is that there is not the rigidness in definition as their is in the Vanilla world. A nice general philosophy, but what does it mean to me. I am not sure I can exactly put it into words, becasue of the fluidity that the lifestyle gives me. Each relationship I might get involved in is going to be different from the one before or the one after. How the two people in the relationship interact spells much of the way that relationship will fit into the lifestyle. To me the lifestyle gives me that opportunity expand and grow in a much more fluid manner. As to what that means specifically? There are multiple levels one can approach this from. I will tell you what directions I will not go. I am not an adherent to the Gor beliefs. I will not go somewhere that is brings on harm or insanity to myself or others. Some believe that you can separate out the sexual side from all this and have a pure D\s relationship. That is fine for those that believe it. But to me, when you are sharing your bodies in an intimate fashion or you are sharing the largest of all sexual organs (the brain), to deny that there is going to be a sexual tension and a need for a sexual release, is just denying themselves (Dom or sub). Do I expect a sexual relationship regardless of what level the D\s or personal side goes to? You can bet your sweet little ass (the one I want to pay some attention to one way or the other...wicked grin) that there will be. What that will be...time will tell.
