Traditional marriage A husband leads and protects his wife. About me Tall, reasonably fit, apparently handsome (my female friends assure me), a gentle kindly man and intelligent … am a scientist and intolerant of those for whom a brain is an optional extra while warming to people who have a confidence in their identity. In lots of ways, I am austere. I do not smoke, cannot see the point of drugs and only prefer alcohol socially … socially being with friends rather than pointlessly bellowing in a noisy pub or club. Often quiet and more ready to listen, never expect me to engage in irrelevant small talk. Both literally and figuratively, I am a cat person, an aloof observer of humanity. Despite this, I am so appallingly old fashioned that I actually believe there is such a thing as society, where we all have a responsibility for each other and where greed or selfishness is wrong … and yes, this does determine my politics. I hold doors for people and let a lady through first, stand for a lady, walk on the outside of a pavement when with a lady and do all those other old fashioned things because it just seems right. Seeking … or not as the case may be … This old fashioned view covers what I seek in a relationship. In many ways, I do not feel any pressure to find a relationship and recognize that should I end up with somebody this, and she, will be remarkable. This ideal relationship will be a paradox and needed some hard thinking about my values. Most certainly, it will be a relationship between equals in personality. Yet, it will be very traditional in a 1950s household style, strictly monogamous (most likely marriage) where I lead the household with you obediently under my protection and control, surrendered to me, open to discipline and with your identity as part of me. A spark of attraction for me will most likely include intelligence (including a willingness to discuss, and a right to expect me to listen, before I make decisions about our family), kindliness and you having a pride in your appearance. I have no set idea concerning what makes a woman attractive, although prefer a womanly figure to androgynous (Peter Paul Rubens had good points about the ideal shape for a woman). It is your poise, your desire to present yourself well for my pleasure, which is important.
