Here is this girl's take on position training from Mentor (she was given permission to speak freely and frankly without being snide and the intent is to be helpful): Personally, I have major lower back Bain focused on my right side near my hip joint as well as left shoulder muscle pain, tingling, tightness and stabbing, also my thighs are not lined straight unlike my shins/calves. I cannot kneel completely on my heels as my legs will falls asleep in 45s or less. Still I do my best and make my own alterations to the positions. Sometimes, I simply "grin and bear it". I feel that doing these positions, as well as ones not assigned, aid in the flexibility of certain joints to an extent as well as strengthening some muscle groups that may not be used too often. I also believe that it mentally gives us something to focus on for a period to time to center ourselves. Not to mention, we don't know what our future Master/Mistress will require of us, so this helps prepare us so that They will be pleased as well. I find that taking specific time that is set aside for this training exercise is helpful in maintaining structure and routine for day-to-day living. It is an automatic expectation when other things are unexpected. It is unquestioned when there are too many questions. It is closed while there are many other places for loopholes to be. It does not require thought. Just action. It doesn't require calculation and planning. Just execution.
