I've been associated in the D/s lifestyle in one form or the other for the past 40 yrs. I currently have a slave wife, but would be open to taking on another sub/slave for training or to join our house.

Why would anyone who considers them self a Dom, expect on first contact with a submissive to start ordering them around and calling them names. Though they may be submissive, they are a human being first. Get to know them as a friend first, then begin to train them in D/s.
Dominate them from a loving and caring perspective, they are a reflection of you and your training. Want the best for them, and have their best interests at heart. Correct them out of love, never anger, remember they will look to you for guidance, therefore be wise on how you lead them.
Submissive's want to submit, Doms want to dominate, the dynamic is already in place, you don't have to force or stroke your ego to achieve that which both sub and Doms want. Challenge the sub, push her limits yes, but never force.
