Helpful Tips For Slaves

ALWAYS LEARN THE BASICS AND THEN FINE-TUNE WITH YOUR OWNER
There is a wealth of information for free on the Internet and library. These are amazingly still untapped by those seeking to serve. Some key topics a wishful slave should have, at the very least, a working understanding of is:

House cleaning - this is a MAJOR part of a slave's life (at least in my household though I'm sure in many others). While you should ALWAYS adhere to the way your owner will want you to do it you should still know how to polish silver, wash clothes properly (i.e. separate, delicates, hand-wash items, etc), what type of cleaners to use on different services, and so forth.
Shopping Assistant - some owners may not care what your opinion is but being able to present items to your owner that may be of interest to her because you've learned about style, matching, clashing, and so forth may pique her interest. In fact, you may be taught by her to become her personal shopper so that she can send you to the store to purchase items on her behalf. This requires attention to your owner as you'll need to understand that different style of clothes means she'll be wearing different sizes. A size 8 in jeans doesn't mean all jeans are the same or all pants, for that matter.
Manners, Manners, Manners - No one likes someone who doesn't have proper manners and really it's sad state of the world where this is a primary issue. Go to the source of best behavior: Emily Post Institute where you can study up on all kinds of proper behavior. Again, always adapt to what your owner wants but going into a meeting (or even starting that one email that could lead to something) your manners will shine through. This also includes dinner protocol privately and with guests - although it does not cover BDSM protocol so brush up on that as well.
Massage - This is extremely common and while every owner differs in HOW they like to be rubbed almost everyone loves a good massage. Read up, watch videos, and if you can afford it - take a class. Learn about different styles so if your owner needs to just relax you can do that or if your owner needs you to work out a kink (hehe) they have you can do that as well.
Handyman - many owners may already have someone to handle this, (husband, other slave, paid service, etc) but that doesn't mean you should count on it. You should familiarize yourself with basic CAR CARE and household repairs. An owner that doesn't have to worry about the oil change coming up because their handy little slave did it (or at the very least took it in - refer to next comment) or fixing little things around their home is a great help. Especially for those living in a purchased home as maintaining it and even developing it adds value to the household and, therein, enhances your owner's living. This also includes car washing and similar services.
Organization/Attention to detail - This is an absolute must in my household and I'd imagine organizational skills would be key in any slave it's just up to the owner's on how in-depth they want their slave to be. As mentioned above - pay attention to the details. Track the maintenance work on vehicles and ensure they are taken for service (or do the service yourself if you can) when needed. This, of course, is up to the owner as it's a matter of finances (see next comment). Remember your owner's birthday and other important dates (if she's married or significantly with someone remember their anniversary). Also remember the dates of those special to your owner (a siblings birthday, parents anniversary, etc). Reminding your owner (if she assigns this task to you) when an important date comes up could be a key skill. This includes doctor's appointments and so forth and you may be required to handle scheduling for her if she's a very busy woman - mixing up appointments and double-booking is a big no-no. But this also plays a key role in attending to the household as well. Being constantly attentive to details will help you notice if anything is amiss in the household that should be tended to.
Finances - Many owners, especially when dealing with slaves (versus submissives) will handle all of the finances of a household. Whatever your personal arrangements with your owner are (you surrendering all of your paychecks each week, you maintaining your own account, you not working, etc) you must ALWAYS be mindful of any expenses you are generating or that will be required if you are performing a task (i.e. taking the car in for service). Don't ever assume that the owner will "okay" an expense because "it's for her" but check in advance if it's okay to make this expenditure. If you have your own finances and wish to use your own money to do this then that may be more acceptable and may not require checking ahead of time, but this is something to clarify with your owner early into your "courting" period.
Cooking/Nutrition - This is a highly valued skill and while some people absolutely love to cook many owners may opt to hand over all cooking/meal planning to you. This is also where finances and organizational skills come into play. Do not grocery shop willy-nilly but rather learn to make a meal plan for a week that covers all those in the household. Generate the meals, create a shopping list, and see if your owner wants final approval. In my household I use online services like Harris Teeter or Lowes Foods where I can shop online and then just have to go to the store to pick it up - they do the shopping for me and I know exactly how much my bill will come to. If you don't have this service in your area check with the local grocery stores to see if they have the option to view their products and prices online so you can inform your owner of what the expected bill will come to.
Miss Abernathy/Other BDSM lifestyle books - Unfortunately the Abernathy books have skyrocketed in price so it may take some exploring to find someone who has a copy to lend you or to locate a copy at an "old/used" books store, unless you don't mind paying around $60 for a tiny book. There are other books similar to this but what I liked most about the Abernathy books was it was full of quizes and other tasks that a slave can do to help them pin-point their key points, weakest areas, and teach them attention to details. Knowing where your service is strong is one thing, but knowing where it's weakest is another and then you can focus on where you need to learn.
Profiles - As I just saw some of these here on FL here's another helpful tip.
DO NOT HAVE CREEPY PIX. Seeing you looking somewhat psychotic and/or holding a weapon of some kind is NOT appealing to an owner. In fact, it screams "Run away! Run away!" to us. If a knife or gun or other device plays a role in your picture it should be something that shows you submitting to it rather then you welding it, especially in a menacing manner. You should appear well-groomed and "put together" in your pictures as this is often times the first and only impression you'll leave on an owner. Many of us who receive your emails will review your profile/pictures to see if it's even worth responding. If your profile screams creepy, psycho, or a total mess then many will opt out before you can even start.
Personal Grooming - Learn about manicures, pedicures, facials (the spa kind fellas) for your owners. Many women love to be pampered in this way and a slave who knows how not to get polish all over the place is key. It doesn't matter if you have a foot fetish or not, or if your owner loves foot worship or not. Many times this type of service is strictly that - service... it's pampering... it's showing your owner that you adore her and want to do everything you can to show that. This also goes for you as well and it's something I touched on in previous threads. Your hair should be maintained and while your owner may dictate it's length, style, and color later on you should present yourself currently in a clean and cared for manner. Eyebrows should be groomed (there should be two of them) and please don't come at us looking like Abe Vigoda. Your clothing should not be rumpled, stained, clashing, and parts of your body should not be hanging out of places it shouldn't be. Whether you're skinny as a rail or big as a house there's likely an owner for you - but that doesn't mean you can present yourself like a pig. And remember, you are always a representation of your owner. Looking a mess tells the world that you don't care about your owner or how your appearance reflects on them. Don't be vain, but be aware.
Specialized Skills - Slaves who claim to have knowledge or experience in any of the above mentioned areas is not entirely uncommon. However, an owner is always looking for someone who may have that "special" something. To help give you an edge learn something not overly common. In my household someone who has web designing skills to help maintain this website or create others is something of extra interest to me. Mechanic - someone who can work on the car is very helpful, however, someone who goes the extra step and learns how to work on motorcycles too is of keen interest to me. Do you have a degree in something? Are you a finance wiz who can enhance the household budget and help it run smoothly and even gain assets? Are you in marketing so you can help developing ideas and bring to fruition ideas your owner has? I have many ideas and goals so a slave who can help in any aspect of them would be highly valuable to me.
It's about US not you - When you try to contact me (or any new potential owner) remember we want to hear about how you can benefit US, not how we can serve you!!! That means we don't want a laundry list of your kinks (and that includes disguising them under deions of "experience" unless specifically asked). If you're not in it to serve because serving is your number 1 true passion then you shouldn't apply (to me specifically). Everything else you "enjoy" is a benefit and should be seen as a reward for excellent service not an expectation of what will happen daily/weekly.

It boils down to - LEARN LEARN LEARN. Use the free resources and do your own personal testing, drills, and education to better yourself. Fine tuning yourself in this manner will make you prime goods for an owner and you'll stand a much better chance finding an owner as you'll not only have a lot more to offer but you'll also know how to properly interact within the BDSM community as a whole.
