I just chanced upon this web series "Maaya" by Vikram Bhatt, a few days ago. It was a notification on one of the apps on my mobile and the pic seemed interesting. Wanting to take a look at what exactly it was, I opened it and started watching the first episode. The disclaimer at the beginning was something that took me back with surprise. "This video has a BDSM these to it's content. If material of this kind offends you or your religious views or community standards you are advised to refrain from watching this video.". An Indian series with BDSM content!!! Curious to see what it was, I proceeded watching the kfirst of 10 episodes. Though initially skeptical about the acting, I did watch through the whole episode and found it interesting. After going through all the episodes, I must say, Mr.Vikram Bhatt has done a pretty good job with the direction and the story line. He has managed to catch the very essence of a BDSM afficionado, the initial struggles which they go through(which I still go through even now, even after being interested in this lifestyle for over a decade and little more). Overall, I must say it was an interesting watch, at least better than the 50 Shades of Grey movie, in a way. I'm waiting for the day that such series' hit the mainstream media, but have a bad feeling it could be a long wait.....Happy watching. |
