There's more to a D/s relationship than the D/s, at least for me. Playmates are fine, and great fun, but in a relationship, I want someone who's also a best friend, someone I enjoy and look forward to spending vanilla time with. I appreciate intelligence and a blazing sense of humor (with a little touch of silliness every now and then to make it fun) in a woman. When she hears the tone of my voice change, or I her's, it's time to shift gears from the vanilla to the sublime, whenever and wherever we may be.
